Attachment Office Administrator

JOB PURPOSE

The Attachment Administrator will be responsible for coordinating all activities relating to student attachment, creating an environment for student career development, and facilitating students’ readiness for the work environment during and upon completion of their studies at SBS.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To conduct visits to existing and prospective employers with a view to obtaining agreements that will potentially lead to memoranda of understanding for student placement.
  • To prepare an annual plan for graduate recruitments, invite industry experts for career talks, and provide recruitment support to employers during the onboarding of SBS students.
  • To conduct surveys on student employability skills and identify training needs for students and develop a strategy of addressing the identified needs.
  • To facilitate networking opportunities for students and alumni with industry representatives on career opportunities and possibilities.
  • To coordinate the school’s specific mini career fairs, roundtables with human resources, and other career-related events to communicate information on the organizations’ recruitment processes and create a rapport with employers.
  • To coordinate end-to-end activities relating to both service-based and work-based learning for SBS students in liaison with the Director and Manager, Undergraduate Programs.
  • To provide career counseling to the SBS students which includes, but not limited to, necessary preparation needed for job market, mock interviews, cv preparations among other expectations.
  • To be the communication link between the university’s Central Career Development Service Office and SBS.
  • To provide management with accurate, timely, and complete reports on Career Development Services’ events, Strathmore’s employability rate, and annual student/alumni job placement to facilitate decision-making.
  • To conduct surveys, analyze and prepare reports for process improvement as part of the core duties in ensuring effective operations.
  • To support in conducting the Graduate Tracer and Exit surveys for SBS students.
  • To monitor operations in the Attachment Office and create procedures to aid in efficiency in the office operations.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned to you from time to time

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The post holder will be required to have and demonstrate evidence of the following qualifications, attributes, and skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any business-related field from a recognized institution
  • A Master’s Degree in any Business-related field and a Certificate in Counselling will be an added advantage

Procurement Assistant

JOB PURPOSE

To be responsible for providing effective operational support in the administration of the procurement function to ensure that users get quality and timely services.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the user departments to define the product requirements, liaise with the other Departments/Units on their procurement requirements, and ascertain supplies specifications as may be required.
  • Source, negotiate with suppliers and coordinate the day-to-day buying activities in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Receive and evaluate quotations, tenders, and proposals from suppliers and make recommendations for award to the Procurement Manager.
  • Prepare Local Purchase Orders in line with University policy and send copies to all the relevant parties after they are duly approved.
  • Prepare and submit all required reports on the buying process at the specified times
  • Maintain the filing system and keep safe custody of all the files, records, and related documents in their complete form as per policy.
  • Monitor, evaluate and advise the Procurement Manager on the performance of suppliers and service providers.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The post holder will be required to have and to demonstrate evidence of the following qualifications, attributes, and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing and Supplies or other relevant field.
  • Professional qualification in supplies management will be an added advantage.
  • Member of KISM or CIPSA
