Knowledge Management Coordinator

ROLE PURPOSE:

The purpose of the Knowledge Management and Learning function within the Evidence & Learning team is to support continuous improvement of our impact for children by ensuring that Sponsorship Program at Save the Children consistently identifies, generates, applies, and shares Program Quality and Impact knowledge and KM best practices, and uses quality data to support our strategic objectives and our global breakthroughs for children.

The role holder will be responsible for supporting the Research Manger, MEAL Specialists and Senior Director in the development of and effective delivery of products and services to support programmatic knowledge management on inequality and discrimination, and results based management to deliver Sponsorship new Program Design.

The role holder will provide support in management of data produced in Sponsorship programs. Duties will include quality checking of data, analysing data produces, synthesising results from programs and supporting mapping of data quality and integration needs for PPM Prime

The role holder will be part of the Program Quality Impact Sponsorship team.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • Experience in knowledge management and organisational learning in order to help drive improvements in evidence understanding and uptake
  • Good Microsoft SharePoint skills, including the ability to create and edit document libraries, OneNet pages, etc.
  • Excellent level of IT competency, strong knowledge and skills in Microsoft Excel, including developing pivot tables
  • Good PowerBI skills, including the ability to create and maintain dashboards
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong orientation towards continuous improvement in user experience or customer service
  • A strong attitude for precision, thorough attention for details and passion for data quality
  • Experience collecting quantitative data and undertaking analysis (graphic displays, presenting trends, briefing papers and summary reports etc.)
  • Experience developing learning/training sessions on technical MEAL tools
  • Highly organized and excellent administrative skills
  • Strong interpersonal and cultural awareness skills, and the ability to develop productive relationships across a wide range of stakeholders in a diverse, international environment
  • Fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communications skills and a passion for creative and effective communications
  • Commitment to the mission, vision and values of Save the Children;

Desirable:

  • Written language skills in French, Spanish or Arabic

Social Inclusion Research Manager

ROLE PURPOSE:

Save the Children’s ambitious strategy for 2022-24 places a strong emphasis on the key role of research and evidence in driving up our impact for children, both in our programmes and in our policy, advocacy and campaigns work. To deliver on our potential as a global movement for children, we are creating a role for a transformational executive in Research and Evaluation to provide stronger strategic and technical leadership and direction to the high volume of research work that is currently carried out across different Save the Children offices, to increase the generation of global research products and secure increased funding for our research and evaluation work.

The Social Inclusion Research Manager will have overall responsibility for ensuring that the highest priority gaps in evidence needed to support the achievement of our strategic goals are identified and filled, and that high standards are achieved. This will include leading on strategic global research products; providing overall direction and support to teams on prioritising global and country-level research questions; securing funding and developing strategic partnerships to deliver research priorities; agreeing standards and procedures for producing credible and useful research and evaluation; developing staff capacity in research and evaluation; and supporting greater internal and external use of research and evidence produced across Save the Children and our partners. This role will provide thought leadership on areas such as gender, disability, social inclusion, discrimination and equity. This is a new role, within a growing Evidence and Learning (E&L) team.

In this role you will need to manage a demanding workflow with shifting priorities and be able to plan and prioritise your work appropriately. You should have excellent communication skills, able to explain complex issues clearly to non-experts and excellent attention to detail, and we welcome innovative ways of thinking and creative problem solving.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential :

  • Substantial demonstrated knowledge and experience of research in international development, preferably in development and humanitarian contexts
  • Technical expertise in one of the following areas: gender, disability, inclusion, community or child participation in research, equity, social inequality, advocacy and social movements, discrimination, social behavioural change
  • Experience leading GESI analysis (specifically gender and disability analysis) to inform design and to support GESI-Responsive monitoring and evaluation.
  • Familiarity with a diverse range of research methods, with demonstrated skills in quantitative and qualitative research design, data collection, analysis, presentation, and communication of results, preferably including cost effectiveness and economic evaluation.
  • Experience of research focused on - and preferably involving the participation of - children, and familiarity with related technical, ethical, safeguarding and responsible data management issues
  • Experience in evidence reviews, evidence gap analysis and identification of strategic research priorities and linking those to local, regional and global demand for evidence
  • Experience of establishing and managing strategic research partnerships, e.g. with academics and think tanks, and preferably from the Global South
  • Experience in capacity strengthening on research/ evaluation methods and techniques
  • Track record in ensuring research outputs are effectively communicated and used
  • Knowledge and experience in capacity building around research
  • Demonstrated ability to use software packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis programs (e.g., SPSS, STATA, NVivo)
  • Ability to adopt a proactive and creative approach to problem solving and strategic thinking working closely with colleagues as required to offer solutions and deliver results
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain relationships with key individuals and groups within and external to the organization
  • Ability to influence and liaise with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures and act with credibility, tact and diplomacy
  • Verbal and written fluency in English
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, including communication with non-technical audiences
  • Experience in collaborative working across a large and diverse organization
  • Ability to maintain a calm disposition and positive outlook when working under pressure
  • Strong remote-working abilities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel periodically

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills related to design piloting, implementation and evaluation of innovative technical tools to advance intersectional gender equality
  • Ability to train others in measurements of disability status e.g. Washington Group Set etc.
  • Additional languages, particularly French and Spanish
