ROLE PURPOSE:
Save the Children’s ambitious strategy for 2022-24 places a strong emphasis on the key role of research and evidence in driving up our impact for children, both in our programmes and in our policy, advocacy and campaigns work. To deliver on our potential as a global movement for children, we are creating a role for a transformational executive in Research and Evaluation to provide stronger strategic and technical leadership and direction to the high volume of research work that is currently carried out across different Save the Children offices, to increase the generation of global research products and secure increased funding for our research and evaluation work.
The Social Inclusion Research Manager will have overall responsibility for ensuring that the highest priority gaps in evidence needed to support the achievement of our strategic goals are identified and filled, and that high standards are achieved. This will include leading on strategic global research products; providing overall direction and support to teams on prioritising global and country-level research questions; securing funding and developing strategic partnerships to deliver research priorities; agreeing standards and procedures for producing credible and useful research and evaluation; developing staff capacity in research and evaluation; and supporting greater internal and external use of research and evidence produced across Save the Children and our partners. This role will provide thought leadership on areas such as gender, disability, social inclusion, discrimination and equity. This is a new role, within a growing Evidence and Learning (E&L) team.
In this role you will need to manage a demanding workflow with shifting priorities and be able to plan and prioritise your work appropriately. You should have excellent communication skills, able to explain complex issues clearly to non-experts and excellent attention to detail, and we welcome innovative ways of thinking and creative problem solving.
