Teacher Intern

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Education Officer-Primary, the national teacher intern develops teachers professional develop plans, execute and report, oversee school academic programs, ensure authentic data collection and dissemination, provide technical guidance and support deputy head teacher to enforce discipline among learners at school level

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Initiate curriculum development process, its implementation and evaluation to ensure it is relevant and achievable in schools;
  • Follow up on individual teacher’s lesson delivery and support accelerated education program; catch up, remedial and bridging classes
  • Enforce inclusive education programs by providing technical support to teachers, eliminating barriers for inclusion of children with disabilities in regular schools
  • Ensure all teaching and learning materials available in schools are distributed equitably, used efficiently and recorded well
  • Teach subjects of specialization to impart knowledge, skills and attitudes to learners;
  • Evaluate learners in subjects of specialization and prepare them for national and other examinations;
  • Support child protection by identifying, referring/supporting children with protection concerns and providing psychosocial support
  • Work with protection focal teachers and teacher counsellors to improve safety and hild protection in schools and community
  • Coordinate gender mainstreaming issues for teachers and learners in curricular and co-curricular activities such as sports to ensure gender equity, equitable participation and maximization of potential of teachers and learners;

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least a P1 certificate from a recognized teacher training college.
  • Experience working in an informal settlement either rural or urban is desirable.
  • Must be registered by TSC.

COMPETENCIES

  • Ability to manage and use e-learning/digital devices for teaching and learning, prepare and upload learner content on devices, data collection and analysis
  • Experience of working in refugee schools or with refugee community in the camp or urban set up.
  • Exemplary guidance and counselling skills, and experience in provision of psychosocial support

Education Technology Officer 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee training, coaching and on-going support of teachers to improve instructional practices 
  • Work with the IT officer and other Digital learning service providers to ensure equipment and software are up to date.
  • Keep an up-to-date inventory of all digital learning equipment in schools
  • Support data collection and management for research and needs assessment
  • Training; Provide regular training for new and current members of staff for new and existing applications.
  • Ensure data and system integrity by setting up and administrating ICT security systems: anti-virus, backup routines, access controls, firewall and physical security.
  • Maintain necessary documentation for system maintenance and follow up appropriate maintenance contracts for all ICT equipment.
  • Enhance office IT system through appropriate upgrades and advise Operations Unit on changes or improvements required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience including a supervisory role in a school.
  • Networking, software application, Backend support

  • Knowledge of eLearning authorizing tools
  • Knowledge of Moodle learning management system
  • Strong computer skills on web-based applications
  • Net support classroom management software
  • Excellent communication, time management, organization and presentation skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent report writing and analysis.

Pre-Primary National Teacher 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Initiate curriculum development process, its implementation and evaluation to ensure it is relevant and achievable in schools;
  • Organise and provide appropriate education for early years programmes; plan and implement competence based curriculum for children aged 4-8 yrs.
  • Impact knowledge and skills to the learners.
  • Working with school management and other stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of competence based curriculum.
  • Facilitate on pre-writing, pre-reading, numeracy and creative experimentation and availing learners with opportunities to learn and care for self.
  • To engage learners in various activities in school that support them with psychosocial skills allowing them to communicate and associate effectively with others.
  • Prepare and compile each learner’s assessment and store them for future reference.
  • Preparing and updating professional documents and working as team to deliver the right content.
  • Provide support and guidance to the learners to identify their abilities and talents.
  • Participate in development of relevant play and learning materials for the learners.
  • Identifying, assessing and referring learners with special interest and giving them support and attention.
  • Ensuring safety of learners during education programs as well as teaching learning process.
  • Capacity building of learners, incentives teachers and parents on specific needs, modification and accommodation of learners.
  • Provide care and nurturing spiritual, moral, social and mental growth of the learners.
  • Training on learners on toileting and personal hygiene.
  • Support child protection by identifying, referring/supporting children with protection concerns and providing psychosocial support
  • Work with protection focal teachers and teacher counsellors to improve safety and child protection in schools and community
  • Coordinate gender mainstreaming issues for teachers and learners in curricular and co-curricular activities such as sports to ensure gender equity, equitable participation and maximization of potential of teachers and learners;

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least a certificate in ECDE education from a recognized teacher training institution.
  • Must be currently serving as a pre-primary teacher with an experience of at least three (3) years.
  • Experience working in an informal settlement either rural or urban is desirable.
  • Must be registered by TSC with a valid registration certificate;
