Deputy Commissioner – East & South of Nairobi (Tax Service Office)

Kenya Revenue Authority seeks a self-driven and performance oriented individual to fill the position of Deputy Commissioner – East & South of Nairobi (Tax Service Office) within the Domestics Taxes Department. Reporting to the Commissioner - Domestic Taxes, the job holder will be responsible for providing leadership and coordination of the East & South of Nairobi tax service office.

Key responsibilities of the job

  • Development and implementation of programs and work plans to deliver strategic intent of the Authority within the tax service station
  • Lead revenue collection and tax payer base expansion activities
  • Coordinate and mobilize revenue collection operations to ensure the attainment of targets
  • Provide technical guidance and support to facilitate revenue collection
  • Advise the Commissioner of Domestic Taxes all matters relating to Tax Policy Administration
  • Manage operational aspects of the division that include the attainment of performance targets, administration and organisation of staff in the Division

Professional qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, security or related disciplines from a recognized university.
  • A Post Graduate Diploma in Tax Administration will be an added advantage
  • At least ten years work experience, with five being at management level

Chief Manager – Taxpayer Services (TPS)

Kenya Revenue Authority seeks a self-driven and performance oriented individual to fill the position of Chief Manager – Taxpayer Services (TPS) within the Domestics Taxes Department. Reporting to the Commissioner of Domestic Taxes, the job holder will be responsible for managing, directing and controlling all operations within Taxpayer Services Division.

Key responsibilities of the job

  • Drive the resolution of technical issues, difficult problems and complaints through back office support to the Customer Service Tier 1 Tax
  • Resolve DTD taxpayer’s complaints escalated from Marketing &
  • Act as the registrar of PIN numbers.
  • Department, ISO, CIC and any other source in accordance with agreed SLAs.
  • Identify non-performing sectors and coordinating the engagement of sector players in targeted taxpayer
  • Management of the Taxpayer Education funds in line with the approved work plans and budget.
  • Facilitate linkage between DTD and other departments with regard to operational matters.
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communication for quality assurance with regard to the development of training
  • Day-to-day operations, supervision, management of performance and development of staff in the
  • Facilitate implementation of the work plans for the following corporate initiatives in the Division: Audit, Integrity, QMS and Risk
  • Development and management of the sectional work plan and
  • Drive initiatives to improve ethics, culture and facilitate change management in the Division.

Professional/years of experience qualifications

  • A university degree in Business Administration or related disciplines from a recognized institution
  • Well trained/ experienced in the field of tax administration.
  • At least seven (7) years’ work experience in tax administration, with three (3) being at senior management level.

Chief Manager – Medium Taxpayers’ Office Compliance Management

Kenya Revenue Authority seeks a self-driven and performance oriented individual to fill the position of Chief Manager – Medium Taxpayers’ Office Compliance Management within the Domestics Taxes Department. Reporting to the Deputy Commissioner – Medium Taxpayers’ Office Compliance Management., the job holder will be responsible for managing, directing and controlling all operations within a Cluster in MTO Compliance Management.

Key responsibilities of the job

  • Lead the Teams under a Cluster in compliance management in monitoring, assessment collection and accounting of revenue.
  • Assist in the formulation of strategic plans, policies, procedures and best practice and work closely with TSO head and policy unit in the formulation and implementation of the same.
  • Guide the categorization of MTO taxpayers and provide recommendations on any adjustments.
  • Foster strong working relationships with stakeholders for mutual benefit.
  • Provide effective leadership to MTO Cluster teams in the head office and the regions.
  • Monitor performance of the Cluster and initiate corrective action where necessary.
  • Ensure the timely preparation and submission of reports (performance and compliance) and other required data.
  • Day-to-day operations, supervision, management of performance and development of staff in the Cluster.
  • Facilitate implementation of the work plans for the following compliance management
  • Development and management of the Cluster work plans and budget.
  • Drive initiatives to improve ethics, culture and facilitate change management in the cluster.
  • Any other duties assigned by TSO head.

Professional/years of experience qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised university.
  • A Master’s Degree and/or professional qualifications will be an added advantage.
  • Well trained/ experienced in the field of tax administration.
  • Should have a good understanding of revenue statutes administered by the Kenya Revenue Authority.
  • At least seven (7) years’ work experience in tax administration, with three (3) being at management level.
