Call for Experts – International Development Advisory Services

KPMG IDAS is looking for a range of experienced international development professionals for potential short and long-term assignments on various programmes across our two regional clusters in Africa (East Africa - Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda; West Africa - Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone).

We are looking for experienced consultants specializing in the following sectors/thematic areas:

  • Climate change, natural resource management, and sustainability:Climate finance, design and implementation of programmesin climate adaptation, Biodiversity, Green economy strategies, Carbon markets, Forestry, and management, Circular economy, Climate risk assessment, GHG assessment, Sustainability strategies, and related skills;
  • Lowcarbon and renewable energy expertise:Low carbon development, renewable energy technologies, clean cooking, energy governance and monitoring, renewable energy project development and financing, and related skills;
  • Education:Education financing, Education technology, Early childhood development and TVET, Universities and Higher Education and related skills;
  • Water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH):Water Security, Sanitation and WASH financing and related skills;
  • Trade and investment:Trade facilitation, Export promotion and development, Trade policy, Regional integration, Value chain analysis, Market systems development and Investment promotion and related skills;
  • Investment climate reforms:Feasibility studies and business planning.
  • Governance and PFM: Public finance, Public procurement and Budget policy reform and related skills;
  • Financial Inclusion:Blended finance, Consumer Finance, Enterprise Finance, Financing tools/ instruments, Sustainable Finance, Digital Finance and related skills;
  • Youth MSME:MSME capacity building, Job creation and Youth empowerment and related skills;

Requirement

  • The ideal candidates must have successfully designed, implemented, monitored, and evaluated medium to large-scale programmesin Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Candidates should have at least eight yearsof relevant experience and an advanced degree in a relevant discipline. Experience in Africa will be highly considered.

IDAS Communications and Marketing Associate

We are currently looking for a Communications and Marketing Associate to join our IDAS team to support us in the communications and marketing of various client engagements across the above-mentioned sectors. The role will be based in Nairobi, Kenya and may require occasional travel across Africa.

Key roles and responsibilities

  • Support in various program communication and marketing strategies by conducting various communication-related activities
  • Support in communications, marketing planning and execution through various media outlets. 
  • Contribute to developing content for various program websites and social media. 
  • Support the development of unique and impactful digital campaigns to grow online engagement. 
  • Support in production and delivery of communication assets including newsletters, blogs, briefs etc. and coordination of internal and external communications. 
  • Identify knowledge management portals for disseminating program communications. 
  • Support in planning and coordinating hosted and sponsored events, workshops and conferences. 
  • Support in facilitation of knowledge sharing by organizing trainings and documenting lessons.
  • Develop suitable reporting and metrics for measurement and tracking of program communications efforts. 
  • Provide ad-hoc communications and marketing support in line with other responsibilities

Academic/Professional qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Humanities and Social studies, International Development, or other relevant field.
  • 2 - 3 years’ experience in a communications or marketing position, preferably at an international management consultancy firm or working in the international development sector.

Technical skills and competencies:

  • Strong analytical, writing and communication skills. 
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Understanding of global development issues. 
  • Experience working in a complex, fast moving environment and dealing professionally with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with others inside and outside the organization. 
  • Team player.

  • Attention to detail.
