Duties and Responsibilities

• Performing complex and advanced Clinical patient management in area of specialization including; - Internal
• medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, General Surgery, ENT Surgery, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry, Anesthesia, Pediatrics, Pathology, Radiology, Public Health or other specialist recognized by the Board;
• Coordinating training, coaching and mentoring of health personnel;
• Managing health stores including essential medicines and or/plant and Equipment;
• Managing larger facilities/hospitals;
• Developing intervention activities or programs for the management of diseases and conditions;
• Developing medical standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols;
• Developing training curricular and Syllabi in collaboration with training institutions;
• Coordinating emergency response and Clinical care;
• Coordinating health projects and programs;
• Managing health information systems;
• Carrying out health surveys and research ; and

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assessing, planning, implementing nursing interventions and evaluating patients’ outcomes
• Diagnosing common health conditions;
• Providing appropriate healthcare services including integrated management of Childhood illness (IMCI);
• Integrated management of Adolescents and Adulthood illness (IMAI), immunization and reproductive health;
• Providing health education and counselling to patients/clients and community on identified health needs;
• Referring patients and clients appropriately;
• Facilitating patients admission and initiating discharge plans;
• Maintaining records on patients/clients health conditions and care;
• Ensuring a tidy and safe clinical environment
• Collecting and collating data for research;
• Evaluating healthcare outcomes on patients/clients and preparing individual reports;
• Conducting assessment of schools health needs;
• Planning implementing interventions and preparing periodic reports; and

For appointment to this grade an officer must have: -

• Served as Senior Dental Officer, Job Group CPSB 06/’N’for minimum period of three (3) years;
• Bachelors of Dental Surgery (DS) degree or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
• Certificate of registration by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board;
• Valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board; and
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have;

• Served in the grade of Chief Assistant Medical Laboratory Technologist, Job Group CPSB 07/’M’ for a minimum period of three (3) years;
• Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technologist, from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Laboratory
• Technicians and Technologists Board;
• Registered as a Medical Laboratory Technologist Board and current practicing licenses; and
• Demonstrated capability and efficiency in organizing work and discharging medical laboratory functions

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have;

• Served in the grade of Assistant Physiotherapist I, Job Group CPSB 09/’K’ for a minimum period of three (3) years;
• Diploma in Physiotherapy from a recognized institution;
• Certificate of Registration from the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya (PCK); and
• Current certificate of practice from the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya (PCK);

For appointment to this grade an officer must have;

• Served in the grade of Registered Clinical Officer II, Job Group CPSB 10/’J’ for a minimum period of three (3) years;

Duties and Responsibilities

• An officer at this level will be deployed in a District Hospital or in a busy section of a Provincial General Hospital. Specific duties will entail:-
• overseeing procurement, provision and maintenance of facilities;
• preparation of budgets and sound management of budgetary allocations; revenue collection;
• overseeing welfare of staff and patients and ensuring their security; and

• Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized
• by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board;
• Demonstrated outstanding ability in handling medical laboratory services

Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade an officer must have:-

• Served in the grade of Senior Nursing Officer, Job Group CPSB 08/’L’ for a minimum period of three (3) years;
• Bachelors degree in either nursing or midwifery from a recognized institution;
• Registration certificate issued by the nursing council of Kenya;
• Valid practicing license from the nursing council of Kenya; and
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results

Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

• Served in the grade of Chief Nursing Officer, Job Group CPSB 08/’L’ for a minimum period of (3) years;
• Bachelors Degree in either Nursing or Midwifery from a recognized institution;
• Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya;
• Valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya; and
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results

Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade an officer must have;

• Served in the grade of Chief Registered Nurse, Job Group CPSB 07/’M’ for a minimum period of three (3) years;
• Diploma in any of the following disciplines; Kenya Registered community nursing, Kenya Registered nursing, Kenya registered Midwifery, Kenya Registered Nursing/Midwifery of Kenya Registered Nursing/Mental
• Health and Psychiatry from a recognized institution;
• Registration certificate issued by the nursing council of Kenya;
• Valid practicing license from the Nursing council of Kenya; and
• Shown a high degree of professional competence and administrative capability as well as possess broad experience in setting and evaluating nursing and healthcare standards and programs.

Requirement for appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -

• Served in the grade of Health Administrative Officer I, Job Group CPSB 09/’L’ for a minimum period of three (3) years;
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and result

Requirements of Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have

• Served in the grade of Chief Medical Engineering Technologist, Job Group CPSB 07/’M’ for a minimum period of three (3) years;
• Diploma in Medical Engineering or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and result

Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

• Served in the grade of Health Records and Information Management Assistant I, Job Group CPSB 10/’J’ for a minimum period of three (3) years;
• Certificate in Health Records and Information Management from a recognised institution; and
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and result
