Africa International University is a chartered Christian university. It was started as Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology (NEGST) in 1983 by the Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA). The goal was to provide training for pastors beyond the basic certificate and diploma levels.

Director - Open, Distance & E-Learning

Main Responsibilities

  1. Provide guidelines for repackaging of content into formats appropriate for delivery through open, distance blended, flipped and e-learning 
  2. Identify, install and maintain an e-learning platform (learner/content management system – LMS/CMS) 
  3. Coordinate recruitment of ODeL students
  4. Train academic staff to design and repackage content for ODeL delivery 
  5. Provide support for academic staff in uploading content, access reading materials, management of content and students
  6. Provide support for students (orientation onto the platform, respond to inquiries, access to instructional materials, and information on skills required for an ODeL learner) 
  7. Establish ODeL centers as may be required by the University
  8. Provide advisory to University Management on matters pertaining to ODeL 
  9. Coordinate the evaluation and production of Self Learning Instructional Materials (SLIMS)/Modules 
  10. Market ODeL programmes 
  11. Coordinate the provision of professional and continuing education 
  12. Identify and participate in the recruitment and management of staff of ODeL 
  13. Coordinate the purchasing of equipment and other required materials 
  14. Oversee the day to day running of the Directorate 
  15. Participate in appropriate committees of the University
  16. Deliver on any other responsibility/s as assigned by management from time totim

  2. Proven ability to effectively manage projects in a collaborative, team-based environment
  3. Ability to organize, motivate and work effectively with a diverse students, teaching and non-teaching staff

  5. Advanced computer software skills in digital media and e-learning content development tools
  6. Excellent oral and written communication, editing and documentation skills
  7. Excellent knowledge of University programs and distance learning approaches to instruction

University Librarian

Main Responsibilities

  1. Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of the library’s short and long-term plans, programmes, and services in support of the University mission and strategic goals
  2. Monitor user needs and Library responses and prepare reports thereof for Senate’s Library committee and other committees he/she will be a member
  3. Ensure development ofhuman resources in library services through staff performance appraisal, assist in staff recruitment and selection, mentor staff as well as recommend promotion and training of library staff 
  4. Contribute to the development of library specifically through strategic planning 
  5. Review, update, and implement relevant library policies in consultation with the DVC Academic Affairs and Research and regularly up-date the University on any new acquisitions
  6. Prepare the library budget in consultation with the Schools, DVC Academic and advises on library purchases
  7. Perform market surveys and liaise with various Faculties to facilitate purchase of relevant library materials 
  8. Represent and serve as an advocate for the Library in the Academic Boards, Deans Committee and Senate – and other University Administrative structures where he/she will be a member
  9. Lead in hardcopy, digital and electronic collection acquisition, access and development 
  10. Lecture Information Management related courses such as Information Literacy, Communication Skills, Research Skills and other information science related courses 
  11. Work closely with schools and departmental heads to prioritize and focus future library developments 
  12. Deliver on any other responsibility/s as assigned by management from time to time

Additional Key competencies

  1. Excellent knowledge of library science and media technology 
  2. Excellent understanding of the work of academic libraries
  3. Ability to instruct and manage student and staff behavior
  4. Sound knowledge of library management systems and a range of library procedures 
  5. Self-motivated team player with strong organizational, communication and inter-personal skills
