Post-Doctoral Research Fellow – Women in Leadership project

JOB PURPOSE

The primary duty as a postdoctoral fellow is to conduct and publish research.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To conduct and publish original research, in part collaboratively with the Project Lead and Technical leads
  • Research Design and supervise the collection of various forms of data pertaining to the research project.
  • Using automated tools to extract data from primary and secondary sources and developing and maintaining databases, data systems – reorganizing data in a readable format.
  • Performing analysis to assess quality and meaning of data. Using statistical tools to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns and trends in complex data sets that could be helpful for the diagnosis and prediction.
  • Preparing final analysis reports for the stakeholders stating trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data.
  • Analyzing local, national, and global trends that impact both the project, organization and the industry performance in relation to the healthcare sector.
  • Keep up to date with and contribute to research and current developments in the disciplines/areas covered by the research and in the regions where the research work is held at the regional or international level.
  • Identify opportunities that will contribute to meeting the objectives of the research in terms of relevance, quality, policy impact, capacity building, and in terms of visibility of the project and the project partners.
  • Participate in strategic networking with other research institutions, donors, lenders, and policymakers.
  • Provide expertise in preparation of research reports, articles, cases, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with the project team to respond to proposals and any curriculum development work that may emanate from the project.
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned by the Technical Lead

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The post holder will be required to have and demonstrate evidence of the following qualifications, attributes, and skills:

  • A Ph.D. that has been awarded in the last five years.
  • Areas of specialization in Business, Sociology, Healthcare management or related fields.
  • An excellent understanding of both qualitative and quantitative research methods, including study design and statistical analyses, and a very good command of relevant software packages, such as NVivo, Stata, and/or SPSS.
  • The ability to work in a team, curiosity and discipline, self-reliance and initiative-taking, as well as integrity and creativity.
  • Proven time management and organizational skills, delivering work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail with minimal supervision.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills

Project Administrator – Women in Leadership project

JOB PURPOSE

This position will actively facilitate coordination, smooth communication, and collaboration among consortium members.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in coordination of project activities.
  • Writing and compilation of minutes and activity reports.
  • Participation in project workshops and related events.
  • Work closely with study investigators to plan, deliver and report research activities.
  • Participate in the regular project discussions between Strathmore, sub awardees other collaborators and result dissemination forums.
  • Assist in the development of questionnaires and study protocol.
  • Help with planning, budgeting, and reporting on the grant
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, plans and reports.
  • Prepare and execute project logistics requirements this includes training venues, Air tickets, ground transport and accommodation
  • Work collaboratively with the project team to respond to proposals and any curriculum development work that may emanate from the project.
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned by the Project Manager

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The post holder will be required to have and demonstrate evidence of the following qualifications, attributes, and skills:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or any other related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in project management/ administration: provision of logistical support for project activities, inventory management, monitoring project schedules and work plans, and ensuring compliance to policies.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong English oral and written communication
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Good people skills,
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • A team player.
