BAM Retail Sales Executive (Investments) – Business Development

Job Purpose:

Assist the BDM Investments to implement the business development strategy for assigned sales intermediaries and client types as well as maintaining relationships with the same.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist the Investments BDM to develop and implement the Financial Advisor (FA)/ Independent Financial Advisor (IFA) channel strategy and assigned client segment.
  • Provide regular training to the Britam FA/IFA Network on investments products, markets etc.
  • Maintaining relationships with the FA/IFA network to ensure sales target are met.
  • Ensure preparation of client investment proposals on a timely basis.
  • Be responsible for day to day relationship management of assigned clients.
  • Provide Customers with high service standards.
  • Maintain potential investments client database and provide such information as required by management.
  • Initiate communication platforms to engage the assigned client types through questionnaires, surveys, webinars, social media and any other mode with assistance from the marketing team.
  • Design a research methodology to gather market intelligence from the assigned client type and other external sources to help identify which markets to direct most efforts to and also find out what can be done to bridge the gaps.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
  • Delegated Authority:  As per the approved Delegated Authority Matrix.

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required:

  • Bachelors’ degree in a business related degree.
  • 4-6 years’ experience in a similar position.

Technical/ Functional competencies:

  • Knowledge of investment classes.
  • Customer, market and competitor understanding.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Report writing skills.

2 Retail Pensions Operations Associates (Fixed Term Contract)

Job Purpose:

To run with the day to day administration of individual retirement plans and individual retirement income products.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare and issue of periodic member benefit statements i.e. annual, monthly or quarterly.
  • Prepare and file returns with KRA, RBA and other regulators within statutory deadlines such as investment returns, contribution returns and tax returns.
  • Prepare and file Scheme Financial statements.
  • Present scheme financial statements to the Board of Trustees.
  • Accurately process and settle member benefits within the agreed timelines.
  • Prepare pensioners payrolls, commissions, expenses within the set turnaround times and regulatory deadlines.
  • Prepare and facilitate SMS payment confirmations to retirees.
  • Approve payments in line with the Delegation of Authority Matrix.
  • Promptly identify funds, receipt and accurately allocate to member accounts within set timelines.
  • Liaise with Policy Administration regarding  Check off and Direct Debit contributions for retail customers.
  • Prepare and submit direct debit collection files to the DDA Team within the agreed turnaround times.
  • Ensure communication to DDA customers for any rejected cases on a timely basis.
  • Continuous suspense management in line with receipting and suspense management policy.
  • Ensure on boarding of new customers into Fund master within set timelines and laid out compliance guidelines.
  • Prepare and submit welcome calls data for the retail customers.
  • Carry out continuous end to end reconciliations of receipts, payments and balances within set deadlines.
  • Carry out bank reconciliations.
  • To work with Marketing and Customer Retention Functions in developing customer communications including organizing client’s briefings and trainings as required.
  • Prepare productivity and other management reports, including scheme reports such as administration, investment reports.
  • Prepare and issue monthly reports to Actuarial Function on Deposit Administration and Retirement Income products within agreed timelines.
  • Convene and attend Board of Trustee Meetings, Annual General Meetings and Member Education trainings.
  • Train Front office staff to empower them in handling of retail pension clients.
  • Carry out continuous data cleansing of retail pension customers’ information.
  • Coordinate scheme and internal company audits.
  • Actively participate in initiatives geared towards sign up of customers in the portal and mobile applications.
  • Responding to client queries promptly.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business - related field.
  • Professional qualification in Pension Management or any other relevant qualification such as CPAK.
  • Knowledge of legislation governing Retirement Benefits and Insurance in Kenya.
  • Knowledge of MS Excel.

Technical/ Functional competencies:

  • Knowledge of pension administration industry and concepts.
  • Knowledge of the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA’s) regulatory requirements.

2 IT Apps Developers

Job Purpose: 

Work with other departments within the Group to identify requirements and develop solutions (database design, workflows, user/data interfaces, integrations) and design, development and 3rd line support of business Applications, ranging from user analysis, design and development to implementation and maintenance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Configure and/or customize business applications to meet business requirements using various database and software tools.
  • Assist in presentations of system functionality to new users and departments. Drives systems adoption by business users. 
  • Enhance and create user and system documentation as needed.
  • Work directly with the IT support personnel and teams to resolve issues identified and escalated during daily operations. 
  • Perform the necessary technical design and development functionality to ensure that business application systems can be effectively developed and implemented.
  • Design and development of front-end tier(s), middle tier(s), and /or back-end database tier(s) for business applications. 
  • Capturing of business applications information needs and mapping of the same to the software and /or database components. 
  • Perform data modelling to analyze and specify data structures within an application system. 
  • Developing database objects and structures for data storage, retrieval and reporting according to specifications. 
  • Implementing and testing database design and functionality and tuning for performance. 
  • Research and provide input on design approach, performance and base functionality improvements for various procedures and applications.
  • Generation of ideas to improve efficiency in software and application services offered to the business, and/or generate revenue for business.

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required:

  • Degree in Computer Science or technical-related field.
  • Certified Solution Developer e.g. Java, Microsoft etc.
  • 4 – 6 years’ experience in applications development, which includes system customization and report designs.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in Oracle e-business suite development.
  • 2+ years development experience with any modern programming tools/Platforms e.g. .NET, Java, Ruby, PHP.
  • 1+ Years development experience with Java EE.
  • 2 years’ experience with RDMS preferably MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, Sybase, and Informix.

Technical/ Functional competencies:

  • Experience with web servers and application servers e.g. Apache, IIS, Apache Tomcat, JBoss, WebSphere, WebLogic.
  • Experience in data warehousing, business analytics, knowledge in Business Systems Modelling and data retrieval.
  • Have knowledge of Mobile infrastructure, Internet technologies, ecommerce and e-payment technologies.
  • Good understanding of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
  • Unix user skills.
  • Experience in processes and procedures management.
  • Thorough understanding of relational database theory and practice.
  • Experience on Oracle business suite and Oracle BI development.
