JOB DETAILS:
Java Developer

Town: Nairobi
As a Java developer at StepWise, you will work directly with our developer team and to develop new software features. To be successful, you must be equally comfortable interacting with business executives and diving into a detailed discussion with technical experts. You will work directly with the developer team to understand the needs of our customers and navigate the development and deployment of complex software features. We are looking for a talented Java Developer who is an IT professional specializing in developing web applications using Java Programming Language.

Responsibilities
• Writing well-designed, efficient, and testable code, for high availability and performance solutions
• Designing, implementing, and maintaining Java applications that are often high-volume and low-latency, required for mission-critical systems
• Contributing in all phases of the development lifecycle
• Conducting software analysis, programming, testing, and debugging
• Managing Java and Java EE application development
• Ensuring designs comply with specifications
• Preparing and producing releases of software components
• Transforming requirements into stipulations
• Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting for architectural review

Requirements
• Pursuing a BS/BA in Management Information Systems, Information Technology or Computer Science.
• BSc. Degree in Computer Science, IT, ICT, BBIT or related Subjects or a Diploma in ICT, under KNEC Examination Body or relevant experience.
• Proven hands-on Software Development experience, in Java development
• Hands on experience in designing and developing applications using Java EE platforms
• Object Oriented analysis and design using common design patterns
• Excellent knowledge of Relational Databases
• Understanding of the Spring Framework.
• Experience in developing web applications using at least one popular web framework (JSF, Wicket, GWT, Spring MVC)
• Proven skills in Enterprise Java Bean (EJB), J2EE framework, XML, Xquery, XSL, Linux/Unix Windows Platform, Java XML Parsing, Coding among others.

Skills
• Ability to code in Java is required
• Graphical-intensive coding methodology knowledge preferred.
• Knowledge of Java build tools.
• Experience with Java EE components.
• Experienced using Java Web frameworks preferably ( SpringBoot )
• Experience using Java testing tools for finished code.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management or clients.
• Ability to analyze the code while it is under development.
• Understanding of Microservice architecture is a plus.
