Human Resource Manager

Sumac was established in 2002 as an investment club and in 2004, the institution opened its doors to the public as Sumac Credit Ltd with a mission to financially empower business people who could not match the stringent loan requirements by commercial banks. In 2012, Sumac Credit Ltd was duly licensed as a Microfinance Bank by the Central Bank of Kenya to take deposits and has since been referred to as Sumac Microfinance Bank Ltd.
Over the years, Sumac Microfinance Bank Ltd has developed a broad range of product offerings which include various accounts, loan products, Forex, Trade Finance and Bancassurance. In 2018, Sumac was Awarded the Annual Think Business Banking Awards as the 2nd Fastest-Growing Microfinance Bank in Kenya. In 2019 Sumac Microfinance Bank Ltd was recognized at the same Awards as the top Microfinance Bank in Agriculture and Livestock Financing. We have subsequently won other awards in various industries, and we hope to continue putting our best foot forward in the Kenyan market.
Sumac Microfinance Bank Ltd is keen to identify an individual with a passion for people to drive its human resource strategy in the capacity of a Human Resource Manager. The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is part of the senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities include:
1. Leading in the development and implementation of the human resource strategy;
2. Supporting the achievement of the Bank’s strategy by attracting and retaining the right talent that will drive business and realize true value for the Bank by way of a contemporary recruitment strategy;
3. Providing the business with the necessary advice when it comes to best practices and regulatory compliance of the Human Resource practice within the business;
4. Supporting the implementation of the performance management process within the Bank using the Balanced Scorecard process;
5. Adopting best in practice talent development strategies;
6. Ensure compliance to regulatory requirements of the Central Bank of Kenya in the human resource practice at the Bank;
7. Coordinate the CSR activities identified by the Bank with the aim of impacting communities positively and integrating the brand within the communities it operates in. 

The ideal candidate must:
• Demonstrate zeal in getting the best out of people through synergy, good relational and communication capabilities
• Embrace a go-getter attitude that is inclusive and seeks to work closely with people in the achievement of our Human resource strategies.
• Be conversant with regulatory and compliance requirements of the human resource profession and the banking sector in general
• Demonstrate leadership capabilities and the confidence to lead in the development and implementation of the human resource strategy
• Be of unquestionable character and uphold high moral values and ethics

Other qualifying requirements that we will look for include:
• An Undergraduate Degree in Human Resource
• A Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management
• At least 8 years working experience in human resources with at least 4 years being at the helm of a busy human resource function
• A current practising member (CHRP) of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM)
• Experience in carrying out training is an added advantage
• Work experience within the financial services sector is an added advantage
