JOB DETAILS:
Education
• Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in law, political science, international relations, social sciences or related field.
• A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience

• A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in human rights, political affairs, international relations, law or related area. or related field is required. Please explain how you meet this criterion by providing examples.
• Extensive experience in human rights monitoring and reporting experience is required. Please explain how you meet this criterion by providing examples.
• Experience in supporting regional intergovernmental mechanisms on promoting human rights and judicial cooperation is required. Please explain how you meet this criterion by providing examples
• Experience in supporting judicial cooperation among countries is desirable. Please explain how you meet this criterion by providing examples.
• Experience in working in or on the Great Lakes region is desirable. Please explain how you meet this criterion by providing examples.

Languages
• Fluency in the two working languages of the UN Secretariat, English or French (both oral and written) is required.

Assessment
• Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
