Job Summary:
Africa Healthcare Network (AHN) is building the first dialysis chain across East Africa, providing high-quality, life-saving dialysis at an affordable cost to both the local patient population and patients from neighbouring countries, which do not have centers of their own. AHN brings world-class technical expertise combined with developing world practical operating experience to a region in dire need of quality dialysis treatment. In North America, over 97% of patients requiring treatment for kidney disease receive care; in East Africa, less than 5% receive care. AHN's goal is to increase access to high quality care at a lower cost to patients, delivered through a sustainable business model. AHN is currently operating in Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya.

Job Description:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Growth and Expansion, this role is responsible for overseeing the provision of biomedical support at AHN centers across our markets and ensuring that proper documentation is kept. The person will help formulate and implement BME policies and protocols, and work with country teams to troubleshoot biomedical problems and ensure proper machine maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure day to day management of the BME’s from daily updates to weekly updates and necessary monthly planning
• Ensure all BMEs have had the necessary training for our equipment and work with country teams to get all engineers trained
• Ensure existing policies and protocols are adhered to and develop any necessary P&P
• Ensuring the proper communication challenges are followed for addressing machine issues at the centre levels
• Ensuring the proper documentation is being collected by the teams
• Ensuring the proper BME scheduling for proper coverage across our network
• Develop preventative maintenance schedules across country for all machinery
• Order and track the necessary spare parts for machines in country
• Manage machine running hours tracking with our country teams
• Manage machine maintenance trackers across countries
• Installation of New Centers; Work with country teams to install RO and machines at new centers
• Ensure proper communication systems exist at our centers to report issues to central teams
• Maintain relationships with international partners and key BME counterparts
• Work with suppliers to ensure necessary supplier support at new centre installs and existing centers
• Ensuring rapid response of BME for maintenance and repair of basic medical equipment including medical furniture, minor medical equipment and other items
• Develop KPIs for BME team (e.g., machine down time, response time etc…)
• Maintain KPIs for the BME team and report to senior management on performance

Requirements:
• Degree in biomedical engineering, biomedical science, mechanical/ electrical engineering or related
• At least 5 years of Biomedical Support experience with 2 years at management level
• Experience working in the healthcare sector an added advantage
• Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Experience building and maintaining customer and supplier relationships
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Exceptional written and oral communications skills
• Basic knowledge of stock and inventory recordkeeping to include safe, effective and efficient storage of stock and supplies
