About The Role
BURN is looking for a Head of Legal to lead our corporate legal department and is responsible for the legal affairs of the entire BURN group. You will oversee the preparation and execution of all contracts and includes providing legal counsel to the CEO, CFO, and other senior management. You will negotiate terms, ensure legal compliance, and set official contract strategies. To succeed in this role, you need a thorough understanding of a variety of contracts and you should feel comfortable crafting strong arguments during negotiations and must possess strong initiative, as well as excellent management and leadership skills and strong business acumen.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Devise and document contract strategy in line with our company values
• Develop a variety of contracts to fit business needs
• Ensure contracts comply with necessary regulations
• Negotiate contract terms and review the financial viability
• Review all contracts or any other documentation and assess legal implications that need to be brought to the senior management’s attention
• As needed, provide guidance on contract matters to project managers or other operational staff
• Review contract terms and update them to fit legal needs or new company policies
• Research new contract laws and ensure total compliance
• Manage the Legal team
Skills & Qualifications
• LLB from an accredited Institution
• Current license to practice law
• 8 - 10 years in contract law
• Experience drafting a variety of legal documentation
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent writing skills
• Outstanding time management skills
• Great people management skills
• Comfortable working with clients and executives alike
• Ability to explain complex contract laws in everyday language
Desirable
• Fluency in either French or Portuguese is an added advantage
