Hansard/Transcriber – Assistant Officer II– (GRADE NLC 8) – THREE (3) POSTS

Terms of Appointment

The appointment will be on a Permanent and Pensionable terms

Personal Emolument for the position of Hansard Officer II

Basic Salary Scale : Kshs Min 30,000 – Max 55,000 Per month
House Allowance : Kshs. 12,000 Per month
Commuter Allowance : Kshs. 8,000 Per month

Job purpose:
The job purpose is to prepare and publish edited transcripts of proceedings of Commissions Public hearings and activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Transcribes Hansard Recordings
2. Coordinates the publishing of Hansard reports
3. Coordinates the retrieval of Hansard recordings for reference purposes.
4. Maintains an accurate database of Hansard publications
5. Organises transcribed Hansard recordings
6. Processes manuscripts to ensure proper materials are produced.
7. Prepare and publish to the website commissions Hansard
8. Prepares transcripts for editing
9. Conducts draft Preliminary editing work with emphasis in grammar, Syntax, Style and Consistency
10. Classifies, Indexes, Archives and retrieves Hansard reports
11. Cross-Checks transcripts and other documents against reference
12. Prepares Draft procedures and guidelines for Hansard services.

Academic Qualifications
Hold a Diploma in either of the following fields: – Journalism, Mass Communication, Arts in Linguistics in English or Kiswahili, Public Relations or any other social Sciences degree from a recognized University.

Professional Qualifications / Membership to professional bodies;
Be a member of any relevant professional bodies.

Previous relevant work experience required.
A minimum of 3 years work experience.

Applicants must possess level of knowledge and skills in the following areas;
1. Computing Skills.
2. Communication Skills.
3. Analytical Skills.
4. Presentation Skills.
Note:
1. All candidates must meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
2. The position is open to internal and external applicants

Experience in Months: 36

Level of Education:
Associate Degree
