Global Communities is seeking an HIV Prevention Lead on a CDC-funded, PEPFAR opportunity in Kenya. The Activity is anticipated to be a five-year contract to support comprehensive, quality HIV prevention and treatment programs in faith-based organization (FBOs) facilities in Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Meru, Kitui, Tharaka Nthi, Machakos, Kilifi, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Makueni, Nakuru, Muranga, Embu, Mombasa, Kwale, Kajiado, Homabay, Siaya Migori, Bungoma, Kisii, Kisumu, Kakamega, Vihiga, and Busia Counties in Kenya.
Responsibilities
Working under the overall direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) and in coordination and collaboration with project technical staff, the HIV Prevention Lead will directly support the PI in the design, roll-out and day-to-day management and implementation of comprehensive HIV prevention combination prevention interventions to target key and priority populations and related community strengthening activities. This is expected to be a long-term position based in Nairobi. The high-level responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Lead technical and programmatic approaches for scale up of comprehensive HIV prevention services to ensure that target at risk populations for HIV infection are reached, tested, and effectively linked to high-quality prevention and treatment services.
• Foster an enabling environment for provision of KP and PP services to address human rights issues, stigma, and mitigate discrimination and sexual and gender-based violence
• Ensure integration of biomedical HIV prevention services such as VMMC and PrEP, into routine health services
• Oversee training, mentorship, and support of front-line providers to ensure delivery of high quality, patient-centered HIV prevention services based on the most current guidelines
• Ensure seamless management and implementation of comprehensive HIV prevention services across all prevention partners and guide development of work plans, monitoring and evaluation, and quality assurance plans.
• Lead HIV prevention-related program design, planning and management, implementation, coordination, and communication, and reporting with partners.
• Coordinate with implementing faith partners, CDC, MOH, CSOs, County Governments and other national and international stakeholders.
• Leads HIV prevention related trainings and capacity building for staff, partners, healthcare providers, and relevant stakeholders.
• Support and supervise the HIV prevention team, clarifying, communicating and monitoring their performance standards and expectations.
• Contribute to organizational and project level plans for staff training and development.
Qualifications
• Master’s degree or higher (or significant practical experience) in Public Health, Social and/or Behavioral Sciences or a related field, with specific emphasis on community-level health promotion and/or education.
• Minimum of twelve (12) years of professional experience, with five (5) years of experience in designing and implementing large-scale US government funded HIV prevention and support projects for key and priority populations in a similar context
• Experience in a leadership/management role for a project of similar size and complexity, including experience with direct supervision of professional staff.
• Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based and combination HIV prevention care and support interventions for key and/or priority populations and linkage to services, and approaches to addressing gender issues relating to HIV prevention.
• Prior experience in building capacity for staff, partners, healthcare providers, and relevant stakeholders in improving health.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and sustain professional relationships and to work collaboratively with host country and county government counterparts and project stakeholders.
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
