About the role
Our growth in the next 5 years will hinge on our ability to mobilize resources and build strategic partnerships with bi-laterals, INGOs, multilaterals, and governments for the scaling of our safe sanitation services to citizens everywhere.
Sanergy is looking for an exceptional individual to join our Business Development team. The Grant Fundraising Officer will support the team to competitively position the organization for funding opportunities with philanthropic and institutional funders. The individual will be responsible for identifying fundraising opportunities, and will work with the Business Development Team to develop partnerships to meet organizational strategic initiatives, as well as secure and manage grants.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Remain abreast of funders’ trends, build organizational understanding of new funders and contribute information for prioritization of funding opportunities.
2. Generate leads, identify co-funding partners, analyze opportunities, pitch ideas and develop internal stakeholder buy-in to go after opportunities.
3. Craft strong business rationale and a tailored message to partners and funders.
4. Support the entire proposal development process for identified funding opportunities, working closely with the Business Development, Operational and Finance teams to develop high quality funding applications. This includes developing narrative, budgets, log frames and theory of change in accordance with funder guidelines.
5. Gather information from Operational teams, prepare narrative reporting and liaise with partners with regular high quality updates.
6. Ensure reporting requirements for all funders are met and reports are completed to deadlines.
7. Organize and lead site visits with funders.
8. Expertly speak on behalf of the organization to funders and visitors.
9. Support other areas of business development as required in the organizational strategy, especially to improve business development tools and impact reporting.

Qualifications
1. 2+ years of work experience in fundraising or business development in a global development context.
2. Excellent external communication and writing skills.
3. Highly organized team player, with pro-active and flexible work style.
4. Demonstrated understanding of and experience in international development or the social sector more broadly. Knowledge of the sanitation sector is a plus.
5. Humility, integrity and a sense of humor.
