Date Posted: Tuesday, May 17, 2022 , Base Salary: Not Disclosed
JOB DETAILS:
Global Policy, Advocacy and Campaigns Director
Role Purpose:
To lead Save the Children’s Global Policy, Advocacy and Campaigns, in line with our mission, and contribute to creating a high performing top team with both general leadership and sector-specific knowledge, insight and networks at the highest levels.
Save the Children’s 2022 – 2024 strategy explicitly recognises and emphasises the significance of advocacy and campaigning as critical to driving lasting change for children. We can achieve significant change for children through the foundation of our direct programing, but we will not change the world one programme at a time. Advocacy and campaign efforts leverage evidence gathered from our and our partners programmes and research to ensure governments invest in children and strengthen their own laws, policies and programmes to help secure children’s rights. That is how we achieve impact at scale.
As we work with civil society organisations, social movements, the media, the public and others (including children themselves) to generate crucial commitments to children, we amplify the results of our work exponentially and far beyond our own sphere of control. Engaging and building broad support for our work ensures Save the Children remains a relevant, high impact organisation that challenges the power structures to stop the marginalisation and deprivation of children.
The post holder is responsible for ensuring that our policy, advocacy and campaigns efforts are strategic, aligned with the 4 global goals and well-resourced in country offices as well as the centre and in members, in order to achieve the organisation’s Ambition for Children 2030. This entails working closely with stakeholders across a global federated organisation, strengthening Save the Children’s engagement with the public, championing innovation and thought leadership, and helping drive one consistent voice across Save the Children.
