JOB DETAILS:
Responsibilities
• Support and inform the refinement of key project, and program-level indicators.
• Provide guidance, identify needs, strengthen the capacity of staff and support CI country programs, partner organizations, and other institutions through training, advice, and on-going technical assistance in M&E planning and implementation; developing and testing data-gathering instruments; data collection, analysis, interpretation, management, and use; GIS; integration of results into on-going and strategic planning; and reporting.
• Identify and develop M&E plans, methodologies, and tools necessary to help project level tracking.
• Provide M&E technical support to help address issues and gaps as identified in priority projects.
• Contribute to the continual refinement and improvement of CI's organizational M&E tools/methods and the identification and documentation of M&E best practices.
• Contribute to the development of an M&E manual of ORG's M&E approach, tools and methods, ensuring that the manual meets the needs of ORG M&E field staff.
• Conduct evaluations of CI projects and programs to help inform feedback, next steps, and lessons learned to improve project level and organizational level strategic impact.
• Through a collaborative planning process, support the identification and prioritization of critical projects for the team to focus efforts towards and technical activities that are needed to successfully achieve conservation strategies and outcomes for priority projects.
• As the basis for engagement and support develop TOR/SOW that identifies the specific opportunities to address issues, problems, constraints, and opportunities for each respective priority project.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and project teams to develop technical action plans that include conservation, livelihood, and other human well-being outcomes and help them monitor and update these action plans for local, national, and regional threats and opportunities.
• Manage priority projects to ensure delivery against objectives (both TOR + project deliverables), including oversight for the sound financial management of donor funds by the project team.
• Provide periodic quarterly reports and assessments on progress against goals for internal audiences. Assess progress and refine action plans and outcomes as needed.
• Collaborate on the development and implementation of CI's project-level M&E system, working with other internal M&E experts to generate a set of key indicators and sub-indicators that captures the majority of CIs project-level work.
• Support M&E capacity-building efforts, contributing to identifying, developing, and delivering high-quality technical products that aim to help CI field staff and partners improve their M&E skills.
• Cultivate relationships with priority project personnel and support senior staff to help secure funds to support the continued portfolio of work.
• Supervise M&E Specialist/s.
• As appropriate support proposal development and funding opportunities to include contributing to funding proposals and budgets.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions
• Extended work hours may be required, including non-traditional work hours as needed in a global organization.
• Some international travel may be required, when appropriate and safe to travel when COVID restrictions are lifted.
• May need to work out of doors in adverse weather conditions.

Qualifications
Required

• Bachelor's degree in social science (or equivalent discipline) or equivalent combination of education and experience, plus 10 or more years of work experience with M&E research programs or initiatives.
• 5 or more years of supervisory experience.
• Experience with a variety of donors.
• Considerable experience working with different approaches including MEL, MEAL, and MERL.
• Considerable experience formulating strategies to achieve M&E goals, developing and implementing M&E plans, and reporting on progress.
• Considerable experience in completing project and program evaluations.
• Proven ability to understand, interpret and apply technical and scientific information and data to achieve tangible results.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, project management training, monitoring & evaluation (M&E) training.
• Proven ability to work in a team environment and work well across cultures and within and across organizations.
• Fluency in English is required.

Preferred
• Masters degree
• Experience or working knowledge of conservation related concepts, projects or programs.
• A second language will be well-regarded (e.g. Bahasa Indonesia, Spanish, French).
• Experience with a range of bilateral (e.g. USAID, AFD, DFAT, MFAT) and multilateral donors (GEF, GCF etc) extending to corporate (private sector donors and clients).
• Fluency or Proficiency in Spanish or French preferred.
