PositionReporting to the ALM Team Leader, the Global Advocacy Director will provide inspirational leadership, and strategic, technical and managerial oversight to the advocacy, policy and communications components of the ALM programme.
The Global Advocacy Director will be a proactive leader and a self-starter, have the ability to build and lead a highly skilled team working across multiple countries, and take initiative to push the advocacy, policy, campaigns and communications forward. The role will ensure delivery of a programme of activities that will support and galvanise action behind the African-led movement to end FGM, by working at community, regional and global level across the African continent and beyond. They will be accountable for the overall development and delivery of advocacy, policy, campaigns and communications activities and outputs

Requirements
The essentials for this role are;
Qualifitcations• Post graduate degree in relevant subject or equivalent professional experience
Experience• Proven ability to support coordination of complex international advocacy and communications interventions, with experience in relevant African countries.
• Proven experience in people management., including distance management and team working.
• Experience of developing and maintaining successful relationships and partnerships with a diverse range of organisations and consultants.
• Significant experience working on gender, women’s empowerment or ending FGM programmes and campaigns.
• Experience in developing and managing the rollout of communications programmes and media strategies.
• Experience in high profile representation.
Skills & Attributes• Leadership, influencing and supreme diplomacy.
• Designing strategies for achieving results.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to inspire.
• Ability and willingness to travel.
• Knowledge of gender, social norms change, programming related to working towards eliminating harmful social norms.
