Overview
Requirements for appointment:
Be a Kenyan citizen;
o Be a holder of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.,& ChB.) Degree from a University recognized in Kenya;
o Must have completed a Masters Degree in Surgery from a recognized institution in Kenya;
o Registered as a Medical/Specialist Practitioner by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council;
o Have a Valid Practicing License;
o Be of acceptable moral and professional standing;
o Willing to undertake duties Physically in any part of Tharaka Nithi County as they will be assigned from time to time;
o Certificate in computer application skills from an institution recognized in Kenya.

Duties and responsibilities:
o The General Surgeon shall be responsible to the employer and the supervisor for the following:
o Apply the principles and procedures of modern medicine in preventing, diagnosing, caring for and treating illnesses, diseases and injuries;
o Provide Surgical services;
o Operate surgical clinics;
o Supervise the implementation of care and treatment plans by other medical personnel;
o Conduct medical education and research activities in clinical area of work;
o Participate in the development of procedures for the department;
o Make decisions regarding work processes based on established guidelines;
o Prioritize and organize work to meet changing conditions and any other roles and responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time;
o Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.
