JOB DETAILS:
General Manager, Commercial Services
Job Purpose:
Develop, implement and execute strategies and plans that will guarantee the Institute growth in market share and profitability through sales and business development.
Requirements:
• A minimum period of twelve (12) years’ relevant work experience, four (4) years of which must be in Management;
• Bachelors degree in any of the following Life Sciences, Bio-Medical Sciences, Commerce (Marketing), Business Administration, or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
• Master in Business Administration or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
• Professional qualification and membership to a professional body where applicable;
• Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
• Proficiency in computer applications; and
• Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results;

Job Specification
Key Duties & Responsibilities
• Oversee the development, implementation and review of sales and marketing, corporate communication and public relations strategies;
• Oversee the formulation of demand forecasting;
• Coordinate sales and timely distribution of vaccines and other Institute products;
• Oversee maintenance of optimum stocking levels;
• Coordinate the establishment and maintenance of product distribution channels;
• Ensure provision of customer management services;
• Coordinate the identification of business growth opportunities;
• Facilitate the development of business partnerships;
• Oversee adequate promotion and marketing of Institute products;
• Facilitate full market research cycle to inform new product development;
• Spearhead the development and implementation of the Institute’s corporate image and identity;
• Coordinate the training of distributors and other stakeholder engagements;
• Represent the Institute in national and international vaccines forums and Marketing Conferences;
• Oversee the preparation of periodic management and Board reports;
• Coordinate the identification of training needs for the staff and recommending them to the management;
• Facilitate the preparation and management of department budget; and
• Initiate business process re-engineering.
Terms of Service
The successful applicant will be appointed for five (5) year term and may be eligible for reappointment as per the Kenya BioVax Human Resource Policy and Procedures Manual.
