JOB DETAILS:

Key activities & duties
Information management

• Develop and maintain the results database to track core humanitarian indicators in the Ebola response and other hazards as needed.
• Build the capacity of the emergency team to collect, record, collate and analyze data
• Provide quality assurance of all data and results reported in HPM, including the sitreps, working closely with sections.
• Using the database and dashboards, identify and report any gaps in humanitarian assistance to the emergency team and sections.
• Development and maintenance of standardized databases which can be used to capture relevant information for monitoring and planning purposes
• Participate in monitoring missions as required to gather additional information.

Data analysis and visualization

• Provide data analysis on survey data and other data received by sections, partners, field monitoring reports and other data inputs. Use this data to support the preparation of regular reports, including the Situation Reports, and donor proposals.
• Develop maps to support UNICEF’s programming and that of our partners using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) while promoting data standards and harmonized management of geographic data / information.
• Develop dashboards for internal and external purposes using Adobe Illustrator, power BI, and suite products to create dashboards on situation and results summary on regular basis.
• As required, provide support to sections to organize and manage their information/ data and conduct monitoring and analysis.

Partnership and collaboration

• Identify opportunities for data partnerships and collaboration with sister agencies (WFP, IOM, UNHCR, FAO, WHO)
• Support coordination and engagement with other agencies in joint needs assessment missions
• Participate in information management working groups/forums and keep the office updated on ongoing initiatives

Impact for Result

• The role of the Information Management Officer will support the office to ensure effective management and analysis of humanitarian response informing effective and strategic decisions for greater impact of UNICEF interventions. This will include regular data collection and analysis of UNICEF results, existing gaps and challenges for management information and decision. By doing this, UNICEF will be in position to adjust its interventions and actions wherever needed to achieve better results.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have
Education: -

• University degree in Computer science, Software engineering, Information technology, Data Science, Geospatial Science, Geographic Information Systems, or relevant disciplines is required.

Work Experience :-

• A minimum of one year of professional experience in information and data management, technology management especially for emergency response in a large international organization. Experience in a UN organization is an asset.
• Knowledge and experience in using Power BI, Adobe illustrator and ArcGIS are highly desirable
• Proven technical experience in development and use of innovative technology, particularly in the areas of data, humanitarian performance monitoring, use of mobiles and open source, and training in the related field is highly desirable

Language requirements:-

• Fluency in verbal and written English or French (depending on the country office's official language). Knowledge of another UN language or a local language is an asset
