JOB DETAILS:
• RTI is seeking well-qualified subject matter specialists to develop and implement solutions that integrate and promote gender, youth, equity, and social inclusion (GYESI) in the energy sectors at the community, national, and regional scale. The Empower East and Central Africa (EECA) potential mechanism will build on Power Africa’s on and off-grid energy programming throughout the regions with a focus on sustainable growth of generation and affordable access.

Responsibilities
• Provide technical leadership and oversight, and integration of GYESI approaches across all program activities.
• Develop and lead the implementation of the project’s GYESI strategy and support the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team to ensure gender sensitive performance indicators are in place to effectively measure gender equity during project implementation.
• Conduct Gender audits to organizations in the energy sector.
• Coach energy companies in developing Gender Equity Action Plans and implement best practices as outlines in USAID’s Engendering Industries: HR Best Practices Framework.
• Lead the support to women in energy networks in East and Central Africa
• Work closely with project staff to build their capacity and increase their understanding of GYESI issues, integrate inclusive approaches and consider social and economic impacts of project activities on women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
• Identify GYESI-related activities and potential opportunities with organizations working with underrepresented groups.
• Master’s degree in gender studies, human resources, social development, psychology, sustainability, international development, engineering, or related field and 4-6 year of experience, or bachelor’s degree and 8-10 years of experience.
• At least 2-5 years of progressively responsible experience working to design and implement social inclusion in programming for donor-funded development programs in East Africa and/or Central Africa.
• Experience integrating GYESI approaches in the energy sector, both on and or off-grid.
• Experience building the capacity of project teams and partners to improve gender equity and social inclusion outcomes.
• Experience conducting gender audits and providing training on gender and social inclusion in East Africa and/or Central Africa
• Experience engaging or providing substantial and meaningful support to women networks.
