JOB DETAILS:
The purpose of this role is to support with quantitative and qualitative data collection for the Hilton project titled “Evidence-Based Policy, Planning, and Development – Supporting Children’s Holistic Development in Marginalized Communities: A Formative Study”. This position is open in Turkana, Isiolo and Lamu.

Responsibilities

• Attend a training workshop to plan for research activities and familiarize with data collection, consenting tools and protocols
• Assist in logistical preparation for recruitment and mobilization, consenting and data collection
• Introduce the study to the participants and seek their informed consent to participate in the study
• Contribute to tool review and pre-testing of tools
• Assist in community engagement processes
• Collect household quantitative data using ODK software
• Conducting key informant interviews
• Conduct a transect walk to health facilities and ECD centers
• Take comprehensive field notes
• Conduct data collection and ensure quality, ethics and COVID-19 safety protocols are adhered to
• Generate interview/FGD summaries per activity
• Ensure proper storage of all data collection tools, records and raw data

Requirements
• A Degree/Diploma in a Health or Management Science, Sociology or any other related field with 2 years working experience
• Prior experience in collecting qualitative or quantitative data
• Proficiency in use of smart phone/tablet to collect data is required
• Familiarity with research ethics and experience taking informed consent
• Ability to work within tight schedules under minimal supervision
• Should be based in the selected sites (Lamu, Isiolo and Turkana) and fluent in Swahili and the community local language
• Excellent demonstrated teamwork and communication skills
