JOB DETAILS:
Environmental and Social Project Manager Position
Kleen Energy Limited is currently seeking an Environmental and Social (E85) Project Manager, to join the project development team, located at our Embu office in Kenya The successful candidate will be responsible of implementing environmental and social management systems (ESMS) and continued operation and monitoring of the ESMS during construction and operation of a 6 MW hydro power plant located along River Rupingazi in Njukiri Forest, Embu County,
Responsibilities:
• Implement an IFC Performance Standard compliant
• ESMS and all related plans such as Occupational Health and Safety, Community Health and Safety Scakeholders Engagement Strategy. Emergency Response and Monitoring Plans;
• Collaborate within the project tearn to develop and improve internal processes and templates to ensure implementation of ESMS;
• Undertake site visits to ensure Occupational Health and Safety Community Health and Safety and minimisation and management of environmental risks and implementation of Monitoring Plans
• Liaise with community members to implement the Grievance Mechanisms and alleviate - grievances,
• Undertake annual environmental self-audit on the ESMS according the requirements of NEMA
• Liaison with NEMA
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or similar,
• Minimum of 7 years' experience in establishing and implementing ESMS; Experience in implementing IFC Performance Standards:
• Experience in working with hydro power projects and understanding biodiversity
• parameters to be assessed,
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and developing grievance mechanisms;
• Strong oral and written communication skills:
• Excellent in spoken English, Swahili and Kierbu languages
• Ability to work effectively in monitoring all management plans and action plans and implement measures;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
