JOB DETAILS:
Ecologist

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
• Either individually, or as part of the project team, grow existing projects and develop new projects including the preparation,
• writing and submission of research proposals In cooperation with Head of Strategic Partnerships Africa and
• other CABI staff, acquire new donors and funding opportunities
• in the area of IAP management, restoration and/or land use planning
• Either individually, or as part of the project team, lead, conduct and support projects
• Carry out internal capacity building in IAP management through training, mentoring, learning by doing etc.
• Develop and support gender aspects in project work
• Publish the outcomes in peer reviewed journals, in particular focusing on the impact of CABI’s work
• Ensure adherence to CABI policies and procedures.

ABOUT YOU:
• PhD degree in Applied Ecology, preferentially IAP management, restoration ecology, soil health, land use planning or related subject areas with 3-4 years of relevant post-doctoral experience
• Good understanding of the socio-economic aspects of IAP management
• Experience in inter- or transdisciplinary project work and/or integrated landscape management would be desirable
• Proven experience in project development and obtaining funds
• Proven experience in successful project planning and management, both technically and financially
• Good knowledge of quantitative (and qualitative) research methods and statistical analyses
• Strong scientific publication record
• Fluency in English with excellent written and oral communication skills
