JOB DETAILS:
ECDE Officer

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Review of education provision to maintain and improve its quality, equity and efficiency,
2. Guidance and counseling teachers as well as pupils
3. Mentoring and motivation of teachers and learners
4. Preparing reports and collecting monthly data;
5. Ensuring safety and security and conducive environment for teachers and learners;
6. Developing relevant play/learning materials and assessing the ones used by teachers
7. Assessment of schemes of work, lesson plans and daily program of activities used by teachers
8. Assessment and evaluation of children progress and other professional records;
9. Assisting in planning the ECDE Centre programmes;
10. Conducting research on ECDE;
11. Participating in stakeholder engagements in the ECDE sector;
12. Mobilizing and sensitizing communities on the need for ECDE; and
13. Assisting in the interpretation and implementation of the County ECDE policy and the National pre-primary policy.

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –
1. Degree in Early Childhood Development and Education from a recognized institution;
2. Registered by the Teachers Service Commission;
3. Certificate in computer application skills;
4. Certificate in Translation Course will be an added advantage
5. Certificate of Competence Based Curriculum will be added advantage.
6. Having taught as an ECDE teacher in Makueni County will be added advantage.
