JOB DETAILS:
REF: TUR/CPSB/055/2022/2023: DIRECTOR PUBLIC WORKS, JOB GROUP ‘R’, ONE (1) POST.

• The Director Public Works is the head of the Division and is responsible to the Chief Officer in charge of Public Works for all activities of the Division.

Duties and responsibilities: -
• Formulating, implementing and reviewing buildings/construction development policies, strategies, procedures, plans, standards and guidelines;
• initiating review and dissemination of appropriate legislation and regulations on buildings/constructions development;
• facilitating designs, approval and implementation of buildings/construction development programmes
• facilitating implementation of sustainable funding framework for the development of public works services;
• facilitating proposals for technical support in the provision of public works services development in concurrence with both levels of governments;
• spearheading research, innovation, best practices and use of modern technology in public works development and related issues;
• Monitoring, supervising, and training of junior engineers for professional development and other technical staff working under them.

Requirements and competencies for appointment: -
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Quantity surveying, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent qualifications from a university recognized in Kenya;
• attended a Project Development and Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized Institution;
• attended a Senior Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized Institution;
• attended a Strategic Leadership Development Projects course lasting not less than six (6) weeks from recognized institution;
• Professional registered with relevant professional bodies; EBK/BORAQS
• Current valid annual practicing license from professional body
• cooperate membership with a professional body
• Demonstrated high degree of professional competence, administrative capabilities required for effective planning, direction, control and coordination in line with your profession
• Thorough understanding of National goals, policies and programmes and the ability to translate them to your professional function;
• Master’s degree from a university recognized in Kenya will be considered an added advantage.
