JOB DETAILS:
Job Requirements
i. Master’s degree in any of the following Animal Science, Apiculture, Livestock/Agricultural Economics, Dairy Technology, Agricultural Education and Extension , Agriculture or Animal Production, Range Management, Climate Change and Adaptation, Animal Breeding and Genetics, Animal Nutrition, Livestock Production Systems, Biological Sciences, Natural Resource Management, Aquatic Sciences, Food science and technology, Biochemistry, Environmental Science, Physical Sciences or any other equivalent and relevant from a recognized institution.
ii. Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution b) Certificate in senior management course (SMC) lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution c) Be a registered member of a recognized professional body
iii. Ten (10) years’ experience, three (3) years of which must be in a senior position within the Public Service.

Job Description
i. This position is responsible for coordinating and implementing livestock production programs and projects within the county.
ii. Coordinating the implementation of livestock and fisheries development policies in the County; b) Managing the department of livestock and fisheries human resource capacity development; c) Managing fiscal resources for the department, provision and improvement of administrative services; d) Supervising and Managing staff, programs and administrative functions for the department.
iii. Promoting collaboration of stakeholder’s participation in livestock and fisheries extension delivery;
iv. Coordinating livestock and fisheries extension research liaison and training programmes in the County;
v. Coordinating implementation of work plans and budgets for livestock and fisheries;
vi. Ensuring compilation of periodic reports and preparation of performance contract
vii. Providing technical guidance in all aspects of livestock and fisheries production and development;
viii. Coordinating livestock and fisheries technical forums, workshops and seminars;
ix. Facilitating the development of livestock and fisheries micro enterprises value addition and business plans in the county;
x. Providing and improving administrative links between the county headquarters and the field services
xi. Participating in monitoring and evaluation of livestock a fisheries projects and programmes.
xii. Liaising with research institutions and other agencies towards Livestock and fisheries development in the County.
xiii. Overseeing implementation of Livestock and fisheries management measures
xiv. Formulating, implementing and monitoring resource conservation intervention strategies
xv. Monitoring fish seed and feed production programmes
xvi. Designing livestock and fish marketing strategies
xvii. Promoting product value addition
xviii. Managing livestock and livestock data bank
xix. Preparing the budget for the section.
xx. Ensure adherence to budgets that have been passed
