JOB DETAILS:

Job Summary:
TechnoServe seeks a Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for an anticipated local food systems program in Kenya. The DCOP will support the Chief of Party (COP) in managing day-to-day operations and will have decision making authority in the absence of the COP. The DCOP will monitor and follow up on critical management and planning issues to ensure effective and timely project execution. S/he will manage the review and finalization of internal and external project documents, including donor deliverables, presentation decks, studies, and technical reports. In collaboration with the COP, s/he will ensure that programming execution meets program milestones, TechnoServe quality standards, and donor expectations.

Basic Qualifications
2. Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in agricultural economics, international development, business, economics, public policy, or other relevant areas.
3. At least 8 years’ professional experience in experience in relevant private sector or development programs. 12 years’ experience with a Bachelor’s degree.
4. Strong budget management and financial analysis skills, including proficiency in Excel.
5. Experience supporting USAID-funded programs and familiarity with USAID regulations and procedures.
6. Prior work experience in countries in East Africa. Experience working in Kenya strongly preferred.
7. Outstanding written communication skills, including prior experience editing and proofreading documents.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience working or collaborating with agriculture private sector companies
2. Strong budget management and financial analysis skills, including proficiency in Excel
3. Proficiency in Kiswahili

Required Languages

1. Fluency in English with excellent oral and written communication skills required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Understanding of capacities and constraints of smallholder farming and agribusiness development.
2. Results-oriented, with demonstrated experience achieving project targets.
3. Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills.
4. Proven team player with strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills.
5. Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other administrative applications.
