JOB DETAILS:
Responsibilities
• Contributes to the preparation of reports based on organizational needs and requirements for reporting and analysis.
• Supports more senior staff in their work on process improvement mechanisms.
• Contributes to the preparation of data sets, being responsible for the acquisition and initial cleaning of data from primary and secondary data systems and documents data sets used .
• Contributes to the creation and maintenance of databases, contributes to data collection projects, products, tools and processes to extend the capabilities of client offices .
• Contributes to the identification and analysis of patterns in data sets using various methods .
• Prepares data sets upon request; responds to queries/requests and maintains/updates web pages.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
• High school diploma or equivalent is required. Supplemental training in data analytics is desirable.
• Passing the United Nations Data Assistant Test is a prerequisite recruitment consideration for Data Assistants and related categories in the United Nations Secretariat. The test is administered to applicants when required before the administration of a written assessment and/or interview.

Work Experience
• A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in data science, data analytics, applied
• mathematics, information management, or related area is required.
• Experience designing and deploying self-service analytics and reports in data visualization applications (MS Power BI, Qlik, Tableau or similar) is desirable.
• Experience using Webi reports and OLAP analytical spaces in SAP Business Objects is desirable.
• Experience using database languages or programming languages (R, Python, SQL or others) is desirable.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
NOTE: "fluency equals a rating of "fluent" in all four areas (read, write, speak, understand) and " Knowledge of" equals a rating of " confident" in two of the four areas.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
