Position Summary
The legal researcher will be very instrumental given the strategic input the officer is to give the department in terms of research in the related field. The officer will bring the department up to speed with any new development in the field that may mitigate or aggravate any pending or expected litigations within the County.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must be a Kenyan Citizen
2. Served in the grade of Legal officer III or in a comparable and relevant position in the Public service for a minimum period of three (3) years;
3. Bachelor of Laws ( LL.B) degree from a recognized university;
4. Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Council of Legal Education;
5. Must be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
6. Must have a current valid Practicing certificate from the Law Society of Kenya(LSK);
7. Proficiency in Computer applications from a recognized institution
8. At least two (2) years post admission experience in legal drafting and research.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Conducting extensive legal research on case law and other matters relevant to the operations of the County government.
2. Analyzing pleadings and conducting research on issues arising therefrom.
3. Prepare legal briefs and legal opinions on diverse range of legal matters pertaining to county governments
4. Conducting research on comparative laws and regulations by other County governments.
5. Providing general administrative and other support to the office of the County Attorney.
6. Prepare progress reports and updates for management from time to time.
7. Any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor

4. For candidates to meet the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010, applicants must obtain the following clearances:
• Tax compliance certificate from KRA
• Clearance certificate from HELB
• Clearance certificate from Ethics and Anticorruption Commission (EACC)
• Certificate of good conduct from Criminal Investigation Department
