JOB DETAILS:
The Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research (KALR) Act 2013. Established the Kenya Agricultural & Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) to primarily promote, streamline, coordinate and regulate research in crops, livestock, genetic resources and biotechnology in Kenya. It is in this pursuit that the Management of KALRO wishes to advertise and competitively seek a result oriented, self-driven individual of high integrity to fill the position of Corporation Secretary
Reporting to, and in consultation with the Director General, the successful candidate will provide legal and secretarial services to the Board; ensure compliance with statutory requirements and effective management of legal related risks. S/he will prepare and arrange all Board meetings and those of its committees; facilitate preparation of Board papers and ensures accurate recording and timely dissemination of Board minutes. The position advises Management and the Board in good corporate governance practices in line with the Kenya Constitution 2010 and relevant legislative Instruments including government policies, procedures and guidelines. S/he will ensure effective custody and maintenance of up to date records of all gazette matters relating to the Organization and participates in special projects and assignments of strategic importance to the organization..

Job Qualifications:
• Twelve (12) years' experience, at least five (5) years as relevant experience as a corporation/company Secretary within the public, private sector or an equivalent position preferably in a large organization:
• Experience in public sector will be an added advantage;
• Have a Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution
• Have a Master's degree in Law (LLM) from a recognized institution;
• Have a valid Practicing Certificate from Law Society of Kenya;
• Be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
• Have a Diploma in Law from Council of Legal Education,
• Certified Public Secretary CPS(K)and be a member in good standing with the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya;
• Have a Certificate in A Strategic Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
• Fulfilled the requirements of chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
