JOB DETAILS:
Our client, a health technology company advancing the state of healthcare through large scale discovery and translational research, advanced molecular diagnostics, and clinical programs, is looking to hire a Commercial Director, Diagnostics East Africa to lead and expand its Diagnostics and testing operations in the region.
Reporting to the VP Diagnostics Pan Africa, the Commercial Director, Diagnostics East Africa will be responsible for the following key duties:
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead the Commercial Growth of the Diagnostics business in East Africa.
• Define business objectives/goals, develop & execute business plans in line with diagnostics operations to support sustainable growth objectives.
• Assess, identify, and prioritize potential market growth opportunities as well as market synergies to secure competitiveness and that the appropriate corrective actions are implemented when required.
• Design and implementation of a highly innovative go-to-market strategy.
• Build and maintain a strong positive profile among the company's key stakeholders such as health and regulatory agencies and diagnostic associations, with the aim of proactively shaping and influencing relevant legislative developments / regulatory frameworks.
• Improve operations efficiency across laboratories by streamlining the operational processes and making good use of technology to achieve high efficiency.
• Lead the planning for and execution of new product introductions while working closely with Regional Managers.
• Leverage the Business and Partnership relationship to retain and build toward a full Precision Diagnostics solution and product portfolio standardization.
• Lead / take part in the marketing and sales process and ensure an in-depth knowledge of customer requirements and the relations with clients are good and efficient.
• Take appropriate measures to improve economic profit, including hands-on personal commitment in addressing situations where profit levels are too low.
• Guarantee that all relevant legal Health & Safety requirements are being abided to, under your direct or indirect responsibility, and that the Company’s accreditations are being maintained and regularly expanded.
• Anticipate market trends and environmental forces and implement the necessary changes to meet distributor and customer needs.
• Implement and sustain business processes that ensure efficient execution of key business initiatives.
Key Knowledge Skills & Competencies
• Minimum BSc/MSc or MBA degree in business, marketing, technical or scientific discipline or similar.
• Minimum 10 years work experience preferably in the healthcare industry in diagnostics operations and at least 8 years in a leadership role.
• Proven understanding of the East African Market, especially Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, and Ethiopia.
• Leadership experience in making complex decisions, able to coordinate resources, including budget, time, and people, and to make decisions by assessing different options.
• Excellent skills in written and oral communication, problem-solving skills with attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Knowledge and experience in the Hospital/HealthCare Facility accreditation process.
• English fluency essential; fluency in Swahili preferred.
• Domestic and international travel will be required.
