JOB DETAILS:
Purpose of the job
Coordinating university construction, refurbishments of facilities, repairs and maintenance, including other infrastructure undertakings in accordance with approved development plans and set standards to achieve the University’s objectives.

Requirements
• Diploma in civil engineering or related discipline from an accredited Institution
• 3 years’ experience
• Registered with the relevant professional bodies
• Christian commitment and practice

Responsibilities
Reporting to the University Services Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for:
• Conceptualizing building plans and projects for approval and implementation
• Coordinating the approval of infrastructure plans by relevant statutory authorities
• Providing technical expertise in the evaluation of infrastructure tenders and other related projects
• Interpreting building plans, regulations and codes of practice in order to direct the progress of work and monitor compliance with construction documents.
• Providing skilled assistance to builders/architects in planning and organizing building projects by interpreting and carrying out their directions.
• Carrying out supervision on construction works within the university including reporting and making timely recommendations.
• Overseeing repairs and maintenance of existing infrastructure including monitoring quality and workmanship.
• Providing input in the preparation of Bill of Quantities.
• Implementing best practices in construction work.
• Implementing change initiatives to achieve desired business plans and culture.
• Ensuring appropriate Christian behaviour both internal and external in line with the institution’s Strategy.
