Competencies

Education
• Advanced University Degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Urban Development, Urban and Regional Planning, Engineering (including Urban/Municipal engineering), Architecture, Urban Basic service management, urban disaster management or any related Social Sciences is required.
• A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
• A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, policy-oriented work in designing and implementing large scale projects or programmes in complex ecological and socio-economic context is required.
• Experience in policy guidance on conceptual strategy development and management of the implementation of overall strategies and intra and inter divisional/departmental policies and procedures is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
