Our client, Consolidated Bank of Kenya Limited is a government owned commercial bank regulated by The Central Bank of Kenya. Its mandate is to provide banking services to the public, corporate and mostly focusing on small and medium size enterprises, with the aim of enabling their growth and sustainability. The bank is unique in that it is governed by several Acts of Parliament: The bank was incorporated in 1989 as a Limited Liability Company under the Companies Act and later in 1991 it was established under the Consolidated Bank of Kenya Act.

The bank is seeking to recruit an individual with a high degree of integrity, professional competence, administrative capabilities and strategic orientation to fill the position of CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate shall be responsible to the Board for the day-to-day management of the affairs of the bank.

Job Summary
The job holder will be a key business driver to oversee growth and profitability of the bank. He or she will also be responsible for developing, executing the strategy and goals of the bank in an effective and efficient manner, provide leadership, direction, coordinate all activities of the bank, provide professional business support to the management and staff of the bank, provide proper assistance and timely information to the Board.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute the Bank strategy and delivering on annual plans and goals as per the set targets.
• Providing leadership and direction by inspiring and building a strong team capable of attaining the vision and mission of the bank
• Building a performance-based culture and ensuring the Bank has talent and people to support the Banks’ current and future goals.
• Ensure continuous product innovation and diversification to meet the changing client’s needs.
• Preparing annual budgets plans and obtaining the Board approvals.
• Ensure first class customer service driven through people, ICT and continuous service research and innovation.
• Ensure compliance with legislations and regulatory bodies with proper communication to the Board.
• Forge strategic alliances with key stakeholders designed to market mutually beneficial and profitable products and services.
• Ensure judicious cost management and cost containment without hampering business growth.
• Identifying and exploiting business opportunities.

Occasional Duties
• Representing the bank in the Kenya Bankers Association meetings
• Engaging and upraising stakeholders (shareholders, staff and customers) in various forums on the bank’s strategy to secure buy-in

Person Profile
For the appointment to this position, a candidate must have:
• Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines; Business Administration, Commerce,
• Accounting or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
• A Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
• A minimum period of twenty (20 ) years’ relevant work experience, twelve (12) of which should be at Management level;
• Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks cumulative, from a recognized
• institution;
• Professional Qualification from a professional body and must be in good standing with a
• valid membership;
• Computer application skills;
• Fulfil the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya; and
• Working experience in a financial institution will be an added advantage.
Candidates will be required to satisfy or initiate the process of complying with the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 including:
• Certificate of Good Conduct from Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI);
• Clearance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB);
• Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (TCC);
• Clearance from Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC); and
• Report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
