JOB DETAILS:
Duties and responsibilities
• An officer at this level may be deployed as Principal of a County Polytechnic in addition to teaching duties. Specific duties and responsibilities at this level will entail i. train in areas of specialization in accordance with the syllabus;
• coordinate courses, projects and practical work;
• prepare and maintain schemes of work, lesson plans, lesson notes, teaching and learning materials and trainee records;
• induct and supervise newly appointed Instructors;
• carry out research in the relevant field of specialization;
• participate in budget preparation;
• conduct co-curricular activities for trainees;
• maintain trainee discipline through guiding and counseling;
• liaise with relevant industries for trainee attachment; and
• coordinate storage, care, maintenance and proper usage of teaching and learning materials, tools and equipment.

Requirement for promotion
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have
• served in the grade of Senior Assistant County Polytechnic Instructor Job Group ‘CPSB 08’’L’ for a minimum period of three (3) years;
• Diploma in any of the following technical disciplines: Technical Education, Computer Studies/Science;
• Information and Communication Technology; Electronics Engineering; Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Automotive Engineering; Instrumentation and Control
• Engineering; Building and Construction Technology; Civil Engineering; Agriculture; Home Economics and
• Textile Technology; Food Technology; Institutional Management; Food and Beverage Management;
• Catering and Housekeeping; General Education (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Linguistics) and
• Entrepreneurship or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
• registered by Technical Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA),
• training in pedagogical skills; and have shown merit and ability in work performance and result
