JOB DETAILS:
RECRUITMENT OF MEMBERSHIP IN THE COUNTY ASSEMBLY AUDIT COMMITTEE (3 VACANCIES)

Pursuant to section 1555) of the PFM Act 2012 and Regulation No. 167/11of the PFM regulation 2015 and the guidelines for establishment of Audit Committees in all public entities vide Kenya Gazettee Notice Vol. CXVIII No. 40 of 15 April, 2016, the County Assembly of Kilifi is in the process of recruiting members of the audit committee. The County Assembly Audit Committee will support the Assembly in its responsibilities on issues of risk control and governance and associated assurance among other responsibilities.
The County Assembly of Kilifi therefore invites applications from suitable qualified Kenyans for the positions of the members of the audit committee

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT:
Chairperson
To be appointed as a chairperson of the audit committee, one should have the following:
1. A Degree from a university recognized in Kenya,
2. Knowledge and experience of not less than seven (7) years in auditing and/or Accounting /finance/Economics,
3. Be a member of a professional body and in good standing
4. Knowledge and experience in Risk Management
5. Be a person of Integrity and in Compliance with requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010

Members (2 positions)
1. A degree from a university recognized in Kenya,
2. Knowledge and experience of not less than five (5) years in auditing and/or Accounting /finance/Economics/Law.
3. Be a member of a professional body and in good standing,
4. Have a good understanding of county governments operations, financial management and reporting or auditing
5. Be a person of integrity and in Compliance with requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010
6. Have a good understanding of the objects, principles and functions of the County Assembly.

NOTE
i) Members of the audit committee shall serve on a part-time basis for a period of three years and shall be eligible for reappointment for a further one term only.
ii) The allowances payable to the members of the audit committee, being public officers shall be determined by the salaries and remuneration commission.
iii) A person shall not be qualified for appointment as a member of the audit committee if the person:
a. is a pastor present employee of Kilifi County Government
b. Have served as an employee or agent of a business organization which has carried out any business with Kilifi County Assembly for the last two years.
