Call for bids for a consultancy to Develop a National Clean Cooking Planning Methodology

Background

The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum (MoEP), through the Directorate of Renewable Energy, via the Sustainable Energy TechnicalAssistance (SETA) project in collaboration with the GCF project: Promotion of Climate Friendly Cooking in Kenya implemented by GIZ Kenya, and other partners are collaborating in supporting capacity building efforts in energy planning at both the national and county level.

Within the framework  of this collaboration, the GCF project lays more emphasis on clean cooking planning with the aim of meeting the requirements of the Integrated National Energy Planning (INEP) framework. Currently, planning for clean cooking at both national and county level faces challenges due to latk of adequate capacity as well as proven methodologies to support the planning processes. Developing this capacity at the two levels of governance is expected to contribute to the development of more robust and implementable energy plans.

Call for bids from potential firms/companies

In this regard, the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum in collaboration with GIZ are seeking the services of  nindividual consultant to provide support in the development of the National Clean Cooking Planning methodology.The bidder will provide a broad-based energy planning rnentorship support in line with the Integrated National Energy Planning (INEP) framework · covering issues related to clean cook ing and thermal energy sector as well as developing a planningapproach incorporating the key cookingenergy resources namely biomass (firewood& charcoal), LPG, bioethanol, biogas and electricity. Further details of the assignment will be provided within the terms of references which will be shared.
