Job Description
• Responsible for monitoring the security operations for the organization, implementation of security policies, regulations, rules, and norms and makes sure that the environment is safe for employees and visitors. The position is responsible and accountable for the day to day administration of facilities, security systems and processes across East Africa. The Position also has oversight over logistics & stores administration
Premises Security
• Providing overall functional leadership with respect to security for the Old Mutual Group and its associated companies across East Africa.
• Supervisory role of security coordinators in non-Kenya East African countries where the group has footprint
• Developing the overall physical security profiles of Old Mutual Group and Associated companies across East Africa and ensuring that appropriate action is taken to address them.
• Create and implement safety and security policies and programs. Create safety manuals and training materials to ensure that employees are knowledgeable about the policies. He or she will also ensure that all security personnel are trained in these policies.
• Administers security equipment and ensures that the equipment is maintained to standard using a Maintenance Service Report from the vendor as a management tool.
• Attends to faults on equipment and liaises with the vendor regarding any specialized cases.
• Attends to security reports on security equipment failure breach of security procedures and incidences recorded in the Occurrences Book from Departmental Managers, Security Officers Guards or from Security System reports via Messenger or the phone.
• Responsible for the production of Equipment Specification Reports when required and to assist in selection of any replacement / new Security equipment.
• Minimize or eliminate safety and security mishaps by assessing risks and developing programs and plans to address these issues. They will review work habits and environments and make sure that methods and materials are complying with state and local safety standards.
• Regular reviews of safety standards using external consultants as required
• Meets both country regulatory requirements and OMEM standards
• Co-ordination of the Crisis Management Team when required
• Responsible for ensuring that all employees are trained in how to respond in emergency and crisis situations.
• Conduct training sessions and run drills so that employees know what to do in case of fire, tornadoes or other emergencies. Create and oversee the activities of a safety committee.
Security Maintenance
• Assist in administering security equipment and ensuring that the equipment is maintained to standard using a Maintenance Service Report from the vendor as a management tool.
• Assists in conducting routine spot checks on security equipment for maintenance purposes.
• Assists in the selection of any replacement / new Security equipment as required.
• Responsible for attending to faults on equipment and liaising with vendors regarding any specialized cases.
• Management of motor vehicles and transfer logistics for the Old Mutual Group.
• Supervisory role Logistics administrator/drivers in the Group.
• Issuing security advisory to members of staff on need basis.
• Coordinating close protection security for the high-risk persons visiting the Group.
• Issuing of quarterly and ad hoc security reports to the group headquarters.
• Preparing, developing and recommending policies and procedures to help and prevent security incidences
• Training staff on security as per the Group policy.
• Oversight on Group store management.
• Supervision of office assistants.
Logistics
• Overall responsibility for managing the execution, direction, and coordination of all transfers within the organization (Ground & Air transfers)
• Provision of reports on logistics cost and put in measures to control costs
• Ensure adherence to Transport/taxi policies
• Supervision of the Logistic assistant and all company Drivers
• Management & Maintenance for the organization fleet of vehicles
