Responsibilities
• Strategy, policy and processes implementation -Oversee the department by providing leadership and direction in the development and implementation of effective strategies, policies and procedures to facilitate delivery of high-quality Pharmacy services
• Policies and procedures- Develop and recommend policies, procedures, rules and protocols for pharmacy services according to established pharmaceutical principles and regulatory requirements and evaluate program effectiveness.
• Clinical Pharmacy- Provides regular consultation for clients and staff regarding medication and assures that all other dispensing pharmacists provide regular consultation for clients.
• Quality management and compliance- Develop and implement regular monitoring of quality indicators including but not limited to medication errors and client satisfaction and to ensure compliance with all licensure and governing body requirements
• Process Improvement- Keep abreast of changes in legislation regarding issuance and implementation of pharmaceutical changes, monitor new drugs available on the market and local medical trends to determine pharmaceutical needs for new or continuing programs
• Financial accountability- Demonstrate fiscal accountability for department resources and the ability to achieve outcomes within allocated resources. Monitors departmental performance versus budget controls and takes appropriate action to remain within budget guidelines as assigned
• Documentation- Oversee the maintenance of detailed records all medical actions undertaken in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures and ensure compliance
• Facilitate the provision of safety conditions by monitoring physical and environmental conditions in the staff and patients to ensure safety from physical, chemical and biological hazards by development of policies, procedures, guidelines and safe professional practice and ensure that staff complies with same
• Administrative and Management Responsibilities- As the Head of Department, provide effective and efficient management and administration services including budget planning and inventory control, manpower and resource planning to ensure smooth running of the department
• Learning and Development – Support learning and development initiatives by identity skills gaps and providing learning and development opportunities for the medical and relevant staff. Plan and direct research and development appropriate to the facility.
• Any other duties assigned by the superior.
Qualifications and Requirements
• Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from PPB accredited medical training college.
• Registered with Pharmacy and Poisons Board with Valid Practicing License.
• Management course is an added advantage
• Minimum 12 years working experience working in busy pharmaceutical set up
• 5 years’ experience working with insured and corporate clients
• HMIS application skills
• Team Work

• Critical Thinking
• Excellent communication skills in English and Kiswahili
