Recruitment of Board of Trustees
The Turkana Development Trust Want to Make a Difference in Your County? Become a Trustee of this Unique Initiative
The Turkana Development Trust (TDT) is a new initiative in Turkana, with legal standing, that aims to unite development oriented civil society organizations and private sector actors from the County to drive the next level of development
The Trust will be a foundational pillar that will amplify the voice of Turkana citizens (from the village to the county level) and, without partisan politics, foster community-led, community managed, and community-owned development.
The Steering Committee responsible for the establishment of the Trust is looking for objective, optimist and results oriented Kenyans from Turkana to join the Board of Trustees
The Trustees will be individuals with a passion for giving back to their community, a desire to contribute to impactful development, and with relevant experience in organizational development and/or project management.

Criteria for Application
In addition to being a native and resident of Turkana, the Steering Committee is particularly keen to recruit members who meet the following criteria:
• Academic qualification: A minimum of a first degree from a recognized university, A Masters degree will be an added advantage. Diploma holders with at least 10 years of relevant experience may be considered.
• Integrity: Demonstrable high integrity and willingness to submit themselves through the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and the Leadership and Integrity Act.
• Lederskap: Demonstrated experience in strategic leadership; strategy design and execution; managing teams and/or project design, management and implementation
•Relevant Experience in community mobilization, organizational development, capacity building, corporate governance, business development, financial management policy development and implementation, public policy, finance, and/or people driven development processes.
•Resentree Mobilization: Evidence of local and international experience in resource mobilization, establishment of partnerships and professional networks, in touch with local organizations development partners, County Government, and/or private sector in the County and elsewhere in Kenya.
• Non-Political Not be actively involved in politics, or expressed interest in a political position by holding an office in a political party or vying for a political position in the past five years.
• Desire to serve: A leader with a vision for the people of Turkana, a desire to serve and make a contribution for the betterment of the lives of the people of the County.

Vetting consideration:
The Trust seeks to be representative of the people of Turkana - therefore the 2/3 gender rule will apply, youth and special interest groups will be actively sought, including persons with disability, ethnic and other minorities and marginalized communities.

Roles and Responsibilities:
The Trust will be inclusive of all voices and stakeholders to advocate for real development and accountability. The roles and responsibilities will be to:
• Define the Trust's mandate, vision and mission
• Approve the strategic plan and establish the policies and procedures for the Trust
•Define the organization's structure and recruit senior staff.
•Review and approve the annual plans and budgets, performance reports and financial statements
•Mobilize resources and carry out investment programs.
• Review and approve sub grants to its members to enable them to implement community development activities
