Job Summary
• Safari Beach Hotel in Diani, South Coast is looking to recruit a competent Barman with exceptional beverage knowledge and able to serve, prepare and upsell a variety of classic and innovative alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. His role is to stay guest focused and provide an excellent guest drinking experience. The applicant must be a resident of South Coast and willing to start immediately.

Responsibilities include
• Greeting guests who come to the bar and taking beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons.
• Posting guest orders in the POS system.
• Continually assessing customers’ needs and preferences and making recommendations and up-selling food and beverages to guests.
• Exercising due diligence to avoid serving underage persons.
• Preparing and serving a variety of alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages.
• Observing bar opening and closing duties
• Creating beverage lists, menus and drink promotions in close collaboration with the F&B Manager.
• Restocking and replenishing bar inventory and supplies.
• Presenting attractive bottle & Glass displays.
• Complying with all safety and health policies when handling food and beverages.
• Following a correct sequence of services outlined in the F&B Standard Operating Manual.
• Cleaning of glasses, utensils, bar equipment, bars, work areas, tables and guest lounge areas.
• Clearing tables and counters once service is completed and cleaning up any spillages.
• Monitoring the intake of alcohol by guests, and stopping the sale of alcohol to those who are intoxicated.
• Issuing sales receipts & confirming guest payments by PDQ or via Mpesa as per Hotel payment policy.
• Reporting all spoilages and breakages to the F&B Manager for proper recording.
• Works with the controller to verify bar stock inventory.

Qualifications & Prerequisites
• Minimum of 2yrs working experience as a bartender in a reputable hotel.
• Excellent beverage knowledge paired with working knowledge of POS systems.
• Must be a team player, possessing a personable demeanor and excellent customer service skills.
• Good communication skills, fluent in English & Swahili.
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy crates, service trays, boxes, etc.
• Great attention to detail.
• Honesty and integrity
• Must be punctual, dependable and flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Must have good grooming practices.
• Shows initiative and takes action with an appropriate level of independence.
