Bank Relations Manager
Job Description
They are looking for a Bank Relations Manager to be based at their headquarters in Nairobi. The job holder’s key responsibility will be to build, develop, preserve and manage lasting relationships with Commercial Banks, Regulators, Card schemes and Mobile Network Operators (MNOs).
Knowledge Experience and Qualifications
1. Degree holder in Finance or equivalent
2. Strong knowledge on Banking, Card schemes and Mobile Network Operators
3. Fluent in spoken and written English
4. Excellent sense of credit / risk and good financial analytical skills
5. Experience in relationship building with large corporate groups
6. Good sense of business development and analytics
7. Good sense of cross-selling and strong product knowledge
8. Good comprehension, presentation & interpersonal skills
9. PC knowledge: good presentation & structuring skills in written presentation.
10. Able to work under pressure independently
11. Able to adapt to fast-changing environment
12. Efficient execution of assignments within short time frame
13. Knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) practices
14. Problem solving attitude
15. At least 8-10 years’ experience in Corporate Banking and Client Coverage areas.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Banks
1. In liaison with the Group CEO managing and maintaining the DPO Group Banks Road map.
2. Building and maintaining relationships with banks.
3. Reviewing and maintaining proper contracting with the banks.
4. Reviewing and maintaining concessionary commercials with the banks across the group.
5. Presenting Bank strategy to the executive team from time to time this also includes preparing and distributing call reports, partner information to product lines and management to relevant teams.
6. Ensuring that all costs applied buy the banks are kept at minimal.
7. Selling to banks and through banks in liaison with other divisions where applicable this includes Originate and cross-sell Group’s products to achieve budget and business objectives of the team and DPO, ensuring proper administration and safe- guarding of DPO interests.
8. Achieving bank targets and KPI’s as set by the Group CEO.
9. Escalating and resolving areas of concern as raised by the banks.
10. Monitoring company performance against service level agreements and flagging potential issues.
11. Acting as a liaison between the operations division and the bank relations division.
12. Serve all DPO Markets in any business enquiries related to commercial banks.
13. Prepare and maintain relationship plans and global banks road map and strategy.
14. Maintain, understand and closely follow up bank, business models and developments for market intelligence.
15. Managing Risk review processes conducted by the banks, this is in liaison with the relevant teams internally, this also includes performing and ensuring satisfaction of “know your client” and relevant compliance requirement as demanded by external stakeholders being banks.
16. Overall, drive product specialist lines on structuring, pitching, negotiation, bidding and execution of business mandates to banks.
17. Maintaining the Banks network support team/s.
18. Managing all the reporting requirements as demanded by the banks.
Mobile Network Operators (MNOs)
1. In liaison with the Group CEO managing and maintaining the DPO Group MNOs Road map.
2. Building and maintaining relationships with MNOs.
3. Reviewing and maintaining proper contracting with the MNOs.
4. Reviewing and maintaining concessionary commercials with the MNOs across the group.
5. Presenting MNOs strategy to the executive team from time to time this also includes preparing and distributing call reports, partner information to product lines and management to relevant teams.
6. Managing the Bank relations and OPS handover and support processes end to end
7. Understanding and supporting DPO Group countries on all MNOs onboarding processes this includes having a good intel on the MNOs that command significant market share in these markets.
8. Maintaining the MNOs network support team/s.
9. Managing all the reporting requirements as demanded by the MNOs.
Card Schemes Associations
1. In liaison with the Group CEO managing and maintaining the DPO Group Schemes relationships.
2. Reviewing and maintaining proper contracting with the schemes on both Acquiring and Issuing in liaison with relevant divisions.
3. Reviewing and maintaining concessionary commercials with the schemes across the group.
4. Managing all the reporting requirements as demanded by the Schemes.
Regulators
1. Ensuring that DPO adheres to all the regulatory requirements/ Framework in all its operating Geographies named above.
Legal Framework on Payment Service Providers (PSPs)
1. Ensuring that in all its geographies (20 Countries), DPO operates within the legal framework that governs the PSPs at both Country and product level.
2. In liaison with the Legal Division, putting together PSP license application documentations for on-ward submission to the Central Banks and/or relevant institutions.
3. Keeping abreast of the various regulations including Foreign Exchange control, National Payment Systems Acts, Financial Reporting, Micro-lending, among others, and their impact on DPO’s business.
