JOB DETAILS:
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To provide assistance to the EAC Partner States in the Implementation of ICAO Aviation Medicine-related Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), and associated Technical Guidance Materials.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Function 1: (including expected results)
Establishing, planning, implementing, supervising and evaluating programs for the region’s Centre for Aviation Medicine (CAM) activities achieving results as:
• Synergy among EAC Partner states in oversight and enforcement of aviation medical requirements in the region.
• Common programs for aviation medicine that applies across the EAC Partner States.
• A center of reference on aviation medicine for the EAC Partner States and beyond.
• Shared pool of aviation medicine experts to support the aviation personnel licensing function in the region.
• Shared resources to support flight safety among the EAC Partner States.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
3.1 Education Requirements
• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in medicine from a recognized university.
Technical Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
• Must be a professionally qualified Physician and licensed in the practice of medicine.
• Must have obtained the Basic Aviation Medicine training at an internationally recognized institution.
• Possess extensive knowledge of regulatory and clinical civil aviation medicine.
• Have detailed knowledge and understanding of Civil Aviation Authority rules, regulations, policies and procedures related to the medical certification of aviation personnel.
• Have thorough knowledge of ICAO SARPs.
