JOB DETAILS:
The Associate Coordination Officer will work under the overall supervision of Chief, Partnership and Local Government Unit.

Responsibilities
• Social analysis:
• Carries out basic research on selected aspects of critical areas of concern related to sustainable urbanization and human settlements development, social development programmes, etc., to include collecting, analyzing, and presenting statistical data and other information gathered from diverse sources, participating in the analysis of national experiences in housing and urban planning and policy development.
• Contributes to the preparation of various written outputs, for example, draft background papers, reports and sections of studies, inputs to publications and other products.
• Develops and maintains reference/resource information on specific topics, policy-related issues, recent developments, and trends in the field; liaises with NGOs, researchers, and other partners to obtain and provide data and information; responds to various inquiries and information requests internally and externally.
• Provides administrative and substantive support to expert group meetings, panel discussions, conferences, workshops etc., to include proposing agenda topics, researching and proposing experts, handling logistics, budget preparation, etc.
• Analyzes progress and developments in the implementation of specific programmes; contributes to the development of mechanisms for monitoring programme implementation.
• Undertakes outreach activity in assigned areas, providing presentations and other inputs including articles, publications, and attending professional and NGO meetings.
• Maintains awareness of current sustainable urbanization and human settlements and related issues, to include relevant political, policy, gender issues/considerations or other developments in specific sectors, country or region concerned.
• Intergovermental support:
• Provides support to intergovernmental processes dealing with housing and sustainable development issues by preparing inputs for reports to intergovernmental bodies; following intergovernmental meetings and preparing summary reports and similar material; assisting in the organization of panels, roundtables, side events and special session in the relevant field at intergovernmental forums.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement in intergovernmental meetings and other events.
• Technical cooperation:
• Compiles and analyses data and other information necessary for the preparation of technical cooperation project proposals on housing and sustainable urban development.
• Prepares documentation for technical cooperation programmes and projects.
• Monitors, backstops, and assesses the implementation of technical cooperation programmes and projects.
• Participates in fact-finding and advisory missions to government and other activities in support of work programme.
• General:
• Performs other related duties as required, including a variety of administrative tasks necessary for the final delivery of the services.
• Undertakes on-the-job and other training activities, both internally and externally.

Education
• Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, economics, urban planning and architecture, mass media and communication, sociology, project management or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of relevant qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
• Work Experience
• A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management, administration or related area is required.
• Experience in establishing partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including at the strategic level is required.
• Experience in drafting policy documents, project summaries, and background papers is required.
• Working experience with an Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) system, such as Umoja, is desirable
• Work experience with non-governmental organizations, the UN system or a similar organization is desirable.
