Assistant Director Public Communication

Requirements for Appointment: -

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Communication Studies, Media Studies/Science, Photojournalism from a recognized institution;

OR

  • A Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences and a Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Communication Studies, Media Studies/Science, Photojournalism from a recognized institution;
  • A Master's degree in a field relevant is an added advantage
  • Knowledge and relevant work experience of not less than six (6) years and has at least three (3) years’ experience at management level; and
  • Demonstrated professional competence and managerial capability as reflected in work performance and results.

Duties and Responsibilities: -

  • Interpret and implement public communication policies; strategies and programmes;
  • Develop standards and regulations in the management of public communications functions;
  • Manage public communications activities /events branding and promoting positive image of the County;
  • Initiate research on various public communication issues and develop appropriate interventions and response;
  • Produce and communicate publications on the County programs, activities and investment opportunities;
  • Edit and proofread government related publications and other pre-press materials to ensure quality;
  • Provides professional leadership in the management of relations between the county, the public, the media and other stakeholders;
  • Monitor and analyze media content;
  • Carry out research on public opinion on specific sectoral area and providing appropriate strategies;
  • Manage production of IEC materials and events management;
  • Participate in the development of departmental /individual work plans;
  • Prepare and monitor implementation of the department’s budget;
  • Coordinate training and development of staff and management of resources within the department.
  • Plan, monitor and evaluate performance of staff against the set targets.
