Assistant Director Public Communication
Requirements for Appointment: -
- A Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Communication Studies, Media Studies/Science, Photojournalism from a recognized institution;
OR
- A Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences and a Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Communication Studies, Media Studies/Science, Photojournalism from a recognized institution;
- A Master's degree in a field relevant is an added advantage
- Knowledge and relevant work experience of not less than six (6) years and has at least three (3) years’ experience at management level; and
- Demonstrated professional competence and managerial capability as reflected in work performance and results.
Duties and Responsibilities: -
- Interpret and implement public communication policies; strategies and programmes;
- Develop standards and regulations in the management of public communications functions;
- Manage public communications activities /events branding and promoting positive image of the County;
- Initiate research on various public communication issues and develop appropriate interventions and response;
- Produce and communicate publications on the County programs, activities and investment opportunities;
- Edit and proofread government related publications and other pre-press materials to ensure quality;
- Provides professional leadership in the management of relations between the county, the public, the media and other stakeholders;
- Monitor and analyze media content;
- Carry out research on public opinion on specific sectoral area and providing appropriate strategies;
- Manage production of IEC materials and events management;
- Participate in the development of departmental /individual work plans;
- Prepare and monitor implementation of the department’s budget;
- Coordinate training and development of staff and management of resources within the department.
- Plan, monitor and evaluate performance of staff against the set targets.
