Accountant
Main Responsibilities
The incumbent will work hand in hand with the Finance Manager and other members of the finance team to ensure that they deliver professional, high quality and efficient services to Broll clients. He/she will be tasked with the execution of the following duties;
• Process timely invoices for both Broll and facilities management clients and ensure they are distributed accordingly
• Prepare manual invoices and update the manual register
• Ensure timely payments of monthly bills and utilities to vendors and suppliers.
• Follow up on outstanding debtors to ensure adequate cash flow and reduction of debtors to 30 days at all times.
• Compile and post general ledger accurate information into Broll online system
• Maintain petty cash as per Broll petty cash policy and ensure timely replenishment.
• Period end financial closure by ensuring all revenues and costs of the period are accurately accounted for, analyzed and pass any accruals or adjustments.
• Prepare and post journals entries as well as reconciliation of outstanding items
• Prepare monthly VAT and withholding tax schedules and filling the returns on I-Tax.
• Follow up on outstanding withholding tax certificates from clients.
• Update cash book and prepare monthly bank reconciliation in a timely manner.
• Receipting of monies paid on all receivables on Broll Online.
• Prepare regular account reconciliation for both Broll clients and suppliers.
• Prepare debtors schedule with comments whenever needed by management
• Prepare Broll pricing models and participate in compilation of facilities management request for proposals (RFP’s), tenders and new business.
• Assist divisional heads in preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
• Prepare fixed assets schedule, pass depreciation journals, keep a register of all company assets and carry out periodic fixed assets verification.
• Work with external auditors during the annual audits on preparation of schedules and availing finance records.
• Maintain proper filing, storage and security of financial and accounting documents.
• Capturing of leases on BOL and raising tenant invoices in a timely manner.
• Any other assignment as may be given from time to time
Required Education & Experience
• Degree in Finance/Accounting/Commerce or equivalent.
• Must be a Certified Accountant - CPA (K) or ACCA. Membership to relevant professional body and in good standing.
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in a busy accounting environment preferably within the real estate realm.
• Excellent understanding of Tax laws.
• Knowledge of budgeting, service contracts and leasing agreements.
• Strong problem solving skills.
• Attention to detail and maintain high levels of accuracy.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
• Strong excel and PowerPoint skills.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work closely with other team members and with minimal supervision.
• Results oriented and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Willingness to learn.
